I have watched every Belmont I could find on You Tube for several years trying to find a horse with CC's style and a race that might come close to this field.
Actually, this field is really pretty good compared to many fields in the past 15 years.
I watched Real Quiet in 1998 vs. Victory Gallop and have concluded in my own feeble mind that his style in the Belmont was relatively close to that of how I THINK CC might run on June 7.
If that plays true to form, I see Ride On Curlin, Metal Count or Wicked Strong nosing him at the wire.
HEY...I'm not calling it as I haven't even looked at the form. Just sayin' based on a lot of Belmont videos.
If you have time, pleasure yourself--not Howard Stern style--by looking at the Elmont videos.

Mikey, you encouraged me to check out all the pace scenarios of previous Belmonts and this is what I foresee.....hopefully that is..
I looked at that replay a couple of times and I have to respectfully, disagree.....Real Quiet was off the lead, 6th heading into far turn, running in the 4 or 5 path on the big Belmont sweeping turn and then cut over to 2/3 path down the stretch with a lead...a big lead at that...fractions weren't that fast 48, 1:13, 1:37, and 2:02 finishing up in 2:29....Quiet traveled extra distance.....and it cost him at the wire
Let us envision this race....CC breaks out on top in 2 path, lets any speedburners come with him if they want, runs an easy 24 first quarter, still 1st or 2nd....they settle into a 48 half ...1:12 6f race half over....VE probable getting a little concerned to see how close up some of those "closers" are trying to stick with him...VE lets him out a little bit all the while saving ground in 2 path...needs some D between him and closers...runs 24 to a 1:36 mile ...reasonable.. pace so far.....No Social Inclusion glued to his hip this time either........
Alan Sherman says he's galloping out his second mile much much faster than his first in all his morning trips around Big sandy this week and he's clicking off :24 2 furlongs with ease...we'll say he goes 2:01, maybe 2:02... he has separation of multiple lengths, has run in 2 path(shortest trip so far) whole way and VE has to do what he "has to" to hold up that 3 pointed trophy
I say he lets him OPEN up even more coming in a time of 2:25 or 2:26 running the second fastest BELMONT in history (2nd is 2:26.4) by Point Given another BIG West Coast monster who if he had ran a Great derby , surely, would have WON the TC....what an animal, big striding colt Has second fastest time with AP Indy 2:26.4
I don't see any of those closers running anything faster than 2:27.5( ie Birdstone).....Smarty foolishly ran a 1:35 mile, 2:00....too fast...in those middle panels.finished 2:27.5, awfully slow to the wire.....Breaking down those seconds into lengths...it's appearing CC wins by a mininum of least 4..possibly more only determined by VE..
Sorry to hijack your thread but you got me typing......Good luck whatever you play.......

hey mike .. did you see the picture of chrome before derby and just a few days ago. how much he has filled out? what do you make of all the conditioning sherman has put into chrome in his short stay in ny. it seems alot more than usual. ? i could be wrong. it could be the hype.

Philly...not surprised at all. It is amazing how much a 3-year old colt can grown between March and June, especially when they're training like it is the Olympics. He looks like a monster, but a few others do as well.
