Ok, we both know it was a lower level stakes in a small field but he sure did drill them very easily.
Guys - don't bother trying to bust Stockdale's chops here. We are discussing some very serious thoroughbreds. These horses are way, WAY better than what we have in America going long on the green. At a flat mile in America we have NOBODY that can go with Goldikova
Let's give Workforce a chance to jump back onto the lawn and get his legs nice and loose. When they meet up in a G1 we'll find out. If Workforce is sound, properly conditioned, and in form then I'll throw a nickel on him to win if he is the second choice to So You Think. Only if those conditions are met to my eye
it should be fun Stockdale you guys have a real good one there. I just can't ignore a horse that is still relatively young that crushed in the Epsom and Arc |

#77 Posted: 5/5/2011 7:05:17 PM Yeah no doubt it was not a strong G3 but he won easy as you like by 10 lengths (Which he had to do) so fingers crossed he holds his form and can really serve it up to the Europeans. I think his versatility will be a big bonus for him, he can lead in his races or come from midfield and run them down. I am really looking forward to his campaign. |

#78 Posted: 5/5/2011 7:19:39 PM The Australian bookie Sportsbet has a market up for the Arc with
So You Think - $3.00
Workforce - $5.00
Frankel - $7.00
Im not sure if Frankel is even going to race in the Arc and for me it is a 2 horse race between SYT and WF so i would be tempted to just back both and get around even money for either winning

#81 Posted: 5/9/2011 8:47:35 PM Im not being bias here but the British seriously over rate there own horses, there is no way Frankel should be rated that high. I dont think he has ever raced outside his age bracket, so he has only taken on 3yos. He has only had 5 starts. His opposition is questionable and in his last start which propelled him to the top of the ratings he only ran home his last 600m in 40 seconds!
I mean yes he is a very talented horse but a 142 rating??? Be serious |

#82 Posted: 5/9/2011 10:32:18 PM Agreed. if Sea The Stars was above 140 I don't see Frankel there at this point. I saw that race. he basically ran the field right off the course for the first half mile but it looked like he was a bit leg weary late. Let's see how he does going two turns against one of the ones on this list.

#83 Posted: 5/12/2011 10:18:19 PM Black Caviar travels further north to Brisbane to take on the Queenslanders in the BTC Cup tomorrow. Her main opposition will once again be Hay List. The best of the locals is Buffering.
She drew gate 4 and has been installed the $1.25 favourite for the race

#87 Posted: 5/22/2011 9:15:11 PM Ok guys I heard the guys on HRTV talking about So You Think winning big today. Goldikova also came back and won at 9 furlongs no less a bit further than her best distance.
You guys are ripping the Workforce connections for being afraid of So You Think. He sure looks like a beast to me and I am sure the Workforce people feel the same way. But, So You Think came back in a tuneup and crushed a group of cupcakes and lollipops. You praised that effort yet you expect Workforce to make his comeback against So You Think? You can't have it both ways.
Let's see Workforce get back on the green course and shake out the cobwebs. maybe he comes back right into a G1 that does not have So You Think. We won't know the real answer until they meet up when both are fit and in shape and in form.

#88 Posted: 5/31/2011 6:11:54 PM Workforce won his comeback race in a G3 just getting up. In defense of him it was ten furlongs with the last 1.5 furlongs being uphill so it tested his stamina for sure and likely scraped off some rust.
Stockdale - what do you know about this horse Canford Cliffs?
http://www.drf.com/news/royal-ascot-goldikova-take-canford-cliffs-queen-anne-stakes
Apparently the boys in London running the books have him favored over Goldikova That caught my attention as we know she is a 14 time G1 winner. I figure either he is the now "wiseguy" horse that will flop or he may indeed be pretty damn good.

#90 Posted: 6/26/2011 11:10:40 AM Dont know a heap about Canford Cliffs but he must have improved a bit to be favourite over Goldikova. Really looking forward to the showdown in the Eclipse between So You Think and Workforce!
Now that Black Caviar has gone for a spell and the buzz is gone for the moment its good just to take in what she has achieved. Any chance of knocking off Zenyatta's record? :)

#92 Posted: 6/27/2011 9:26:56 PM G'Day guys.
I think both So You Think and Black Caviar would be suited by the USA style of racing. They can both go hard on the speed while still having something up their sleeve. When the opposition start to feel the pinch they cruise away.
Only question is whether they would handle the dirt.
Remember the old Albion Park track Stockdale? You'd get great "Creekers" (Red Seas comes to mind) who were unbeatable at the track but not worth a guy elsewhere - and vice versa.
There's no doubt that on grass Black Caviar is an out and out champion! |

#96 Posted: 7/3/2011 1:28:06 AM I saw the replay on HRTV this morning. I missed it live I thought it was at 8:30ish my time so I didn't play anything. woulda passed with that small field was hoping they would first meet in a full field.
anyways, GREAT win by So You Think. jock gunned Workforce too early if you ask me but So You Think beat him fair and square. Workforce may want more ground and to settle a bit more.
I hope So You Think can handle dirt and they send him over for the BC Classic. people here might think I am not being patriotic but I would love to see a foreign horse beat the Americans on dirt at ten furlongs to send a message to the breeding industry.
a 135ish racing post rating is about a 120 Beyer fig so if he could go to dirt and run a 115ish Beyer he would likely win the BC Classic and he has stamina up the behind.
any rumblings about if he could handle dirt? or, maybe gun for the Arc against Workforce at 12 furlongs, or both maybe.

#98 Posted: 7/3/2011 11:28:52 PM The 3 options being talked up for So You Think are; the Arc, the WS Cox Plate and the Breeders Cup.
No inkling as to which way they are leaning yet but they are the 3 options being discussed |

#99 Posted: 7/4/2011 8:19:41 AM Even with tactics that are banned in this country, So You Champion still rolls Workforce. The pacemaker tried to box SYT at the turn to give WF the best possible chance. As soon as SYT could get clear of the pesky friggin pacemaker, he out 'stayed' the stayer.
It's a shame Europe won't see the best of him. He seems a lot lighter over there, and his explosive speed is a causlaty IMO |
