#1 Posted: 12/7/2011 8:19:30 PM Apparently May 5th, 2012 is looking for the first time like a possible date! Roach feels that a major advantage they will exploit is Mayweather's brittle hands (which he uses Lidocaine injections for pain pre-fight). By using constant aggression he feels Mayweather will have to let his hands go and he feels Mayweather is not comfortable throwing such hard shots and also not trading with Manny. He is correct in that analysis. I just feel that Floyd will use every trick and pop-shot Manny all night. Like I said before Ortiz got KOd, that he wasn't the bigger puncher. Floyd reserves a lot when he throws for several reasons: (1) He has hand problems (2) He always wants perfect balance and throwing big shots leaves you open (3) He doesn't need to throw hard than 60-70% strength level power shots to be effective. For those who have different (or the same view), please post you opinions as I will wait and do a very thorough break-down once they confirm the fight! For now I use what I remember!

#3 Posted: 12/8/2011 9:04:16 AM Mayweather wins EVERY round against Pacquaio. I've been saying it for years on this site. You couldn't hand pick a better opponent for Mayweather..

#4 Posted: 12/8/2011 9:24:23 AM IF this thing actually happens AND IF it lives up to the promotional hype surrounding it and generates over a 100+ million dollars for these two, one word comes to mind - "Rematch".
The public's demand for a rematch would be predicated upon how fan friendly the 1st encounter is. Most boxing experts believe this fight will not live up to the fans expectations. And NOT just because of Floyd's style (w/ his defense and counterpunching), but also because Manny has shown to fight true counterpunchers differently. He is much more calculated in lieu of his normal aggressive style. He will respect Floyd, just as he did Marquez in their 3rd fight. I can't imagine the public's demand for a second fight being that high unless one of them changes the way they fight.....and I doubt either will.
My prediction: Floyd by UD with an average scorecard of 116 - 112 (it pains me to say that, but that's the reality of fighting Floyd, he has the game and the business figured out and has for sometime).

#5 Posted: 12/8/2011 11:39:47 AM Floyd wins a clear cut decision. Its not even the last Marquez/Pac fight that makes me think this. I've always thought Mayweather's style is terrible for Pacquiao.

#6 Posted: 12/8/2011 8:33:10 PM It's not only the styles, Mayweather is a better boxer. He matches up physically equal and he's great at timing a fighter, as Manny is not. He uses the same style that was fine tuned with defense and a right hook.

Truth be told, lets just make the damn fight happen already. I think Mayweather can win this easily, but we will still have to see what happens when Manny is able to land a few pf his shots. It would be stupid to think that he wont be able to land something on Mayweather. Mosley did it and if you pay attention to the Mayweather/Ortiz fight, Ortiz actually landed a big right hook right before they both fell into the corner and Ortiz butted him.
Having said that, I think once we finally see them both in the ring, the true difference in size will show. Mayweather will be much bigger than Pacquaio and that will present problems for pacman

There is no way that Floyd Mayweather loses to Manny Pacquiao on May 5th.

#15 Posted: 12/15/2011 8:51:29 PM I did an article regarding Derby Day about Floyd and Manny and on back-to-back Derby years, Mosley fought Mayweather in 2010 & Pacquiao in 2011, only to lose both in a clear-cut decision. All of these were Kentucky Derby Day: * 2007 - Floyd Mayweather Jr (SD) vs Oscar De La Hoya * 2009 - Manny Pacquiao (KO 2) vs Ricky Hatton * 2010 - Floyd Mayweather Jr (UD) vs Shane Mosley * 2011 - Manny Pacquiao (UD) vs Shane Mosley Below are the scorecards for each match-up against Shane Mosley. Mayweather (2010) Pacquiao (2011) Dave Moretti 119-109 Dave Moretti 120-108 Robert Hoyle 118-110 Glenn Trowbridge 119-108 Adalaide Byrd 119-109 Duane Ford 120-107
