Muguruza has not yet acclimatized herself to all the external distractions that came into her life after she became the first Spanish woman to win a Slam in 22 years. She's only 22 years old (she actually turns 23 in a couple of days), she's learning how to navigate all the extra pressure she's putting on herself to perform given her new found status in her home country. Kerber went through a similar period of poor form after she won the AO (& thus became the first German woman to win a Slam since Steffi Graf), but she was 28 years old when that happened so had much more WTA & general worldly experience under her belt to get used to the same external pressures Muguruza is clearly struggling with, thus she adjusted far more quickly (after poor showings at the French & Wimbledon, she of course ended up wining the USO). IMO it would be best to steer clear of betting on the Spaniard until next season. But anyone writing her off as some sort of "one-Slam wonder" simply doesn't understand how good she is. She'll be a force to reckon with in the years ahead as long as she stays healthy. She'll be a much better player for having had to travel through the internal difficulties she currently faces.
