Worth a small wager. If Murray loses the 1st set, I can't see him coming back. Murray doesn't seem motivated to play well here, as his sights are set on the Davis Cup.

Who is Murray going to lose to in Davis Cup where he needs to tank matches? What a joke this angle is.
it's a completely legit angle and Murray's basically training on two drastically different surfaces at the moment which shows where his head is at. His main focus is the Davis Cup, you know the trophy Great Britain hasn't won since 1936?
It's a tremendously big deal for him just like Wimbledon. He will most likely have to win both his singles and doubles matches so any extra rest he can get between now and next week will be helpful.

Murray rebreaks and forces 1st set tie break. So much for Murray tanking...
He was always going to tank this one, his focus is the Davis Cup final. Effort level was just enough to make it feel close but the end of the tiebreaker was the epitome of giving away free points. Basically coasting through this second set and setting up Stan.

A couple extra days at the WTF would do practically nothing to affect his Davis Cup preparation...
Honestly where is the critical thinking?
Have you played tennis on different surfaces within the same week?
A couple extra days of surface prep and rest at this point in the season is exactly what he needs. Staying a couple extra days helps him in what way? His focus wasn't on the WTF.

The match should have ended 6-4 6-2 for Wawrinka. Wawrinka choked on crucial service holds. While Murray showed some emotion, can you honestly say he really wanted to make the finals on the 22nd and put in all that energy, leaving him with only 5 days of rest and to prepare for a different surface?
And if you really think someone doesn't have to train for another type of surface you should stop betting tennis. After playing on hard courts since June, do you not think he needs to practice on clay?! REGARDLESS of his opponent, there is a a huge difference and completely different feel between clay and hard courts.

Nobody ever said you don't have to train for another type of surface. Where do you people come up with this kind of stuff? You take something that was said and twist it to mean something completely different, whatever you would like it to mean.
Only 5 days to prepare for a different surface? Are we going to pretend he hasn't already been training and preparing for the Davis Cup for a long time? 2 less days is not going to be a problem.
If he didn't want to "put in all that energy" as you say, then why did he ever bother to go all out on Wawrinka's service games at the end, nearly breaking him twice in a row to keep the match going? Believe me, he absolutely wanted to win and move forward in the tournament.

You new guys have a lot to learn.
Yes I have. A player of Murray's caliber does not lose anything on clay from taking a bit over a week to play one hard court tournament. The elite players with huge amounts of endurance like him, Djokovic, Nadal, Federer, Ferrer, etc do NOT need those couple extra days of rest. What he would've had is plenty. As improbable as it would be he would've loved to win the WTF or at the very least go to the semis/finals. These guys don't think the same way you do.
I'm new to this forum but that's meaningless. I have been big into tennis for a very long time.

Pretty clear who in here has actually played tennis in their lives and the other two who have never touched a racquet in their lives. Can't believe these idiots dont understand what you're trying to say Neg. Anyone who's ever played a game of tennis in their life would understand this
