#5 Posted: 3/21/2012 6:36:54 AM 2* Lacko/Sweeting over 22 -106
2* Istomin/Falla over 21 +104 Istomin has struggled badly against lefties, losing 11 of his last 12. Chance of an upset, I'll take the over with both player's current form.
1* Dulko +270 (WTA) Form obviously favours Arvidsson but with these slow courts I have a sneaky feeling that Dulko might make this interesting. The Swede can be erratic at times as she likes to go for broke with her hitting.

2* Kubot -103 Dominated the h2h, have to keep rolling with Kubot here as he gives Karlovic headaches with his returns and net play.
2* Tomic/Stakhovsky over 22.5 -105
2* Stebe +130 Italian journeyman with the experience and making the absolute most of his skill set against a young, under performing talent. Siding with Stebe to right the ship here as Cipolla doesn't offer too much in terms of big, reliable shots and can be handled quite easily.
1* Phau/Berlocq over 22 +110 Phau's the more experienced player on hard courts but Berlocq's on his way to a career season and has never played better, especially on serve. Phau leads the h2h 2-0 while Berlocq has improved immensely over the last 2 years, expecting a tight match here.

#9 Posted: 3/23/2012 1:09:29 AM 2* Haase +1.5 sets -136 Haase seemed comfortable yesterday for the first time in ages, taking down Matosevic in straights while Melzer is still nursing a broken toe after a great run in February. Hopefully the clown version of Haase stays away here and he can gain more confidence over a suspect opponent on hardcourts as Melzer has only 2 wins(Ljubicic and Prodon) out of his last 13 ATP matches on this surface.
2* Chela/Dimitrov over 21.5 -101 Dimitrov will have a tough time dealing with Chela's grinding style to put him away in straights despite the Bulgarian's flashy skill set. A lot of the projected future stars haven't quite adopted the killer mentality needed on tour to put away opponents on a regular basis and I expect this one to be no different for Dimitrov against the experienced Chela.
2* Stepanek/Granollers +138

Wouldn't call the Kubot loss a "wrong angle". His mind has to be broken right now failing to serve out two consecutive matches against Roddick and a guy he's owned in Karlovic. Have to wonder if he wasn't thinking about last week's collapse when serving for the match. Just brutal stuff.

#12 Posted: 3/23/2012 11:24:02 PM I had Granollers too, and I wonder if he got hurt with how he collapsed in the second and third set. I didn't see the match just watching the ticker he go blown out in the third.

#13 Posted: 3/24/2012 1:04:41 AM nothing concrete about a possible injury fsu, but it was definitely a strange finish considering his opponent.

2* Gasquet 2-0 +118 It's Miami, plenty of coke around, how can you not like Gasquet? Ramos was the recipient of a French meltdown the last time they played but in all honesty it should have been a straight forward win with the Frenchman serving out the match at 5-3 *40-30 in the 2nd set. The Spanaird has improved a lot on hardcourts lately but there's still a distinct class difference between the two. Gasquet to finish what he couldn't do last week.
2* Fish -118 Floundering about for most of 2012, Fish may have found what he needs to get his game together. His play this year has lacked any drive or fire, everything that propelled him to where he currently sits in the ATP rankings, the hunger just wasn't
there but his interviews this week have been chippy and angry. Due to his rather ugly style of play, and lack of star power, he has been forced to play on outside courts at the last few American events despite being their top ranked player and he is extremely pissed off about it. This just might be the motivation he needs to get his act together and remain the number one ranked American with Isner hot on his heels.

not sure what Fish has done to make you think his game is back together. if is wasn't for Dancevic's 5 DFs, he might have sweated that match out.
i think Ramos is playing with a lot of confidence and swagger and i question Gasquet's motivation in the last few months. he does have the revenge angle though. |
