1 more week to go before I jump in with two feet as teams get games under their belts & can get a better idea of what to expect with some. going lightly.
Serie B:
Parma to win @even - battle of newly promoted clubs from Serie C. (as posted in 'future' thread) i have high hopes with this squad this season. have them in annual comp. with longtime friends. put my writeup which i handed in while on vacation; normally i just back off any plays the first few weeks.
Parma got knocked out of Coppa Italia by Bari at the start of month on a fluke 90th minute goal, waay too early to have serious match with new faces. HC used it as a practice session basically and havent really scheduled many friendlies. held Fiorentina & Empoli to draws in their warms ups.
Cremonese also got knocked out by Bari the following week too. they were destroyed by Sampdoria in their tune-up, I know its the season opener, but the gap between these two is pretty wide. and here we have a newly promoted team...... not only being chosen to participate in the annual Opening match --- every year Serie B has just 1 game to kick off their season --- but also, theyve been selected to HOST it. And ever since the higher ups went to this format in the 08-09 season, the home side has never lost (yes, a few draws in there)
Villareal +.5 @-120 - they played awful last week, letting newly promoted Levante control the tempo, and conceded long stretches of time during the match w/out ball; and basically they deserved what they got in a season opener 0-1. But now with a few key players back in the lineup, I think theyll be able to have enough to at worst grab a pt here. These two teams finished 5th & 6th last year, about as = as you can get it, so not much of a difference between them. however, in the past 12 H2H's Villareal has suffered only 1 loss (6-5-1)
Holland Eerste FUN parlay: hit the 8-teamer last week, lets see what this brings today.

'dog. holding off on opinions of most the Serie A clubs. it's just TOO early. lotsa love being given with Milan Ive noticed; which is silly. all they did was beat a team whom barely survived relegation last year (Crotone) & are prime candidates for relegation again this year. lets not forget Crotone had a man sent off in the 3rd minute last week too....... soo that 3-0 scoreline should have an asterik next to it.

its a good thing theres 38 games in a season and not 5; or i'd tear up that villareal future already. Escriba has his work cut out for him as that was a pitiful performance.i guess their consolation is they havent played at home yet. long season ahead but thats not the way ya want to start coming out of the gate.
