#113 Posted: 5/14/2012 3:09:20 PM Heard that report Raff. Personally think he's the most valuable pitcher on the staff and think they need to re-sign him. He's worth that sort of deal, but there is no way they can spend that. A deal approaching those numbers will still likely put them over the Luxury Tax. I think they'd absorb that for a year, but no more. They lose Victorino an Blanton this year...and could buyout Polanco. So they have some more money, but other guys will be due for raises as well. I personally think he would re-sign for a deal in the 5-6 range for $22-23 mil...just not sure The Phil's would go thats many years. |

#117 Posted: 5/14/2012 3:12:05 PM Amaro's worst deals imo are Howard, Rollins and Lee. Utley was the best 2B at the time of his deal...Howard was paid as the top 1B and he was barely Top 8-10 at the time. Rollins looks cooked. Hindsight, but I would have rather Galvis play SS and get a another 2B in here. |

#122 Posted: 5/14/2012 3:16:27 PM Albino with nothing to play for as their already relegated while Verona is playing for a shot at direct promotion or at least the top seed in the promotion playoffs... Looks more like the opposite by what have happend so far

utley has the knees of a catcher, i think he has 1 year left unless a miracle happens, they really have nobody in the minors ready to play 2b...even though pete orr has a decent bat, i dont want him anywhere near the field in a crucial game...amaro should have just let rollins walk, but he is starting to show his graual decline as a gm....too many questionable pickups in the offseason |
