I posted this in College Hoops forum, but then soon after realized the place is wall to wall with "fixed," "rigged," and "lock of day" specimens. I have faith in better convo at GD.
Conn played like a bunch of Crox Club church leaguers all year, didn't give a s**t about any game they played in (reg season), and now I really figured it out as to why...they didn't have to!
Finish bottom tier of conference (like they did), go undefeated, whatever. You still get home court advantage for when it really counts: the auto bid conf. tourney.
And I don't want to hear anybody tell me about St. John's and the Garden. This is completely different. Equivalence of AAC tourney at XL Center is if St. John's hosted the BET in Carnessecca Hall!!!!!
UNLV and the Thomas & Mack Center is an exception here, but because it's Las Vegas it is way more acceptable. Mtn West has had its best revenue and economic value since moving that tournament from Denver to LV. They do a great job with even ticket distribution, travel packages and so on. Every University is on board with LV as the annual host.
Now I understand travel is outrageous in this conference what with the East coast, West Coast, Texas and so on being represented. So I would have it that the regular season conference winner hosts this tournament's entirety. Unlike NEC, America East and so on where highest seed in each game hosts.
This game, this tournament should be in Dallas, TX. UConn has no business hosting it after that embarrassment they called a regular season. Outrageous to me that they are rewarded with CRUCIAL home court advantage.
