I know a lot of people thing Ivey is shady, or a crook (Full Tilt). I don't know enough about him to really have a strong opinion either way
This case irritates me though. The casino at all times had complete control over the play, granted Ivey's wishes for card type and what they assumed to be superstitious dealer requests, with the sole greedy motive of cleaning him out. Instead, they got outsmarted.
Yet the court rules they don't have to pay his winnings. They get a do over. A mulligan.
Let me ask you guys, has a casino ever refunded your losses because you got too drunk? Ever get your money back you lost using an ill advised system you didn't research as much as you should?
How about WE start feeding alcohol to the dealers? Maybe hypnotize and confuse them like casinos do the players with crazy carpet patterns, subliminal music, and special scents in the air?
Edge sorting isn't part of the game? Well neither is all that bull shit casinos do!

Ivey requested a specific brand of cards, purple Gemaco, be used. He had a companion -- instruct the dealer to rotate specific cards in certain directions, effectively sorting the deck to make the design flaws stand out.

Sounds close enough to cheating.
Yeah, wouldn't the casino be hip to what may be going on from the get-go? They just chalked it up to superstition?
"Oh, well. Just give this guy the cards he wants and rotate them how his sidekick asks you to."

Don't like Ivey much but not sure how the casino can withhold his winnings? He asked them for 3 things and they were happy to give them to him, what did he do wrong?

I mean its a strategy, when the casino started losing they should've just said.
"Mr Ivey we are changing the cards to our original deck we use, you keep what you have, you are welcome to continue to play however we will be changing the cards back"
Its that simple, take a proactive approach..
ITS YOUR FAULT YOU LET HIM FINISH HIS SESSION AND WALK OUT THE BOOR EXPECTING TO BE PAID…..
Their just pissed their head of security or the dealers or the high rollers pit boss didn't catch onto the way he was playing.

Pretty sad when a player requests certain conditions, is granted them, wins and the casino cries foul ball and wins in court....
I saw the piece on this on Showtime's sports show. If all those facts are true, this is an injustice. If he would've lost, could he file a suit and get his money back? I highly doubt it.

Exactly
Gamblers like us have to learn from our mistakes through painful losses, but casinos get to learn from their mistakes AND retroactively correct them

This is another one of the "house advantages." If they can prove in some way you weren't playing on the up and up then they get to darn you. I can see both sides of this argument but Ivey knew he was cheating so really?
Plus it might just be Ivey getting what he deserves after his full tilt BS he tried to spew on everyone acting like he was a victim as well. Then his lawsuit he filed just to get some good PR against full tilt that was immediately dropped when tilt came out and said "actually Mr Ivey owes US money!"
If Ivey was a good guy I might lean a little more towards his side but when you're as shady as he's been forever you're not gonna get much sympathy from people other than the fanboys

as stated he knew he was cheating.
and i'll venture he was cheating at poker. how? somebody with access to the hole card camera was relaying information to him, as in the other scandals.

Ivey knew he was cheating, end of story. Wish he would have tryed this in Vegas back in the day. He would have ended up buried alive in the desert. Fuggin low life thief
