That's what the bottle reads that has my chemo pills in it. I'm voluntarily putting "highly toxic" material in my body every day.
It's hydroxyurea. I've read that it's actually relatively safe in terms of chemotherapy though. I don't know how that is but... whatever.
It's not like I expect to die next month, or even next year for that matter, but I do want to reiterate to the 20 somethings out there to cherish life every day, and that your problems might not be all that they seem to be. Every day is another chance to experience something beautiful, even if it's just a five minute conversation with a friend. Some day, you may find out that you have a genetic disease which has no cure. Or you could simply be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Game, set, match.

Having had my own health problems over that last year and a half, I couldn't agree more. And I'm no old man just yet. But that attitude of appreciating all the small things life has go offer really is important. I shift more to the half full than half empty mentality. Nothing for granted. Just being able to go shoot a jump shot or wrestle with my kids is more important to me than things like money or having the latest gadget.

I'm 45 and people tell me all the time I look 35. Just 4 years ago a co-worker guessed me at 28. I've always been healthy... never overweight. Had not a care in the world (nothing worth worrying over anyways). Out of nowhere I have a stroke and then I'm told I have a blood cancer. WTF?
What's amazing is how your outlook changes. I really worry about nothing anymore. My house could burn down and people would be amazed at my reaction because I'd just be like "Oh well... I'll deal with it. Who wants to go get a beer?"
I got a second opinion today from another doctor and glad I did. I recommend doing that no matter what the diagnosis is.

So true. If you're not living life on the edge then you're taking up too much space.

You ever seen the show Breaking Bad? Pretty good concept. What wold you do if you were facing death. All he wanted to do was to earn enough so his family wouldn't suffer. But you'd have to see the show to see how it unfolded.

At 47 I reflect on a lot of wasted time. I have had a good life overall but could have done so much more over the years.
Now I am constantly encouraging my daughter to do as much as possible. I sent her to Europe after high school (Class trip) and now she is graduating college so wants to go back. I'm going to make that happen for her and her friend. Really wish I traveled more in my youth.
