I live in costarica there are alot of muggings for petty things like phones because it is the land of 1.50 $$ crack rocks and 10 dollar gram bags, Combine this with alot of very small fast two stroke bikes and Costarica being very lenient on this type of stuff when it comes to laws, No army and a big mix of Nicaraguans colombians and every other god auwful place in between with lots of poor areas close to do have areas MY QUESTION IS should I get a Gun and is it worth taking someones life over a phone or wallet because of the principle and it being mine, Keep in mind Costarica law states that you can shoot someone in the face if it is self defense and you can get a concealed carriers permit here, And shoot someone in the street or your home, SO should I or shouldnt I do it opinions please.

I think the first step for you would be to stop buying crack.

It happens to people all the time and in the last year I was robbed twice for my phone last night was the second time, It is dangerous to walk around this city, The only glitch is they have to have a weapon on them if you are outside your property or it is not considiered self defense if you shoot them, Every day in the paper stories come out about people who are shot over nice smart phones because they are an easy steal and you can seel them fast because the chips are removable, the people generally make 600 dollars a month in salary so they are quiite reluctant to give up a phone that costs half ttheir salary and get shot over them. MY QUESTION still remains is it worth taking another persons life over a simplee belonging what if they are doing it to feed their kid because they are poor?

Anywere in Costa Rica It is like a plague, Dont kid yourself though costa ricans are one of the most two faced unfriendly people on the face of the planet, They are the type of people that give you a smille up front and pretend to be your friend and then spit on the ground after and say friggin north american scum bag in my country so dont expect a welcome from anyone.

Check the law and statutes but yeah, arm yourself and protect yourself and interests.

Usually, when someone robs you they do with a deadly weapon. They are saying "give me what you have or I will hurt/kill you and take it". They may even hurt/kill you if you give them what you want (its on THEIR terms and they use THEIR discretion). If you fight back with deadly force you're basically putting things back on YOUR terms. You may still get maimed or killed but at least you have a choice in the matter.

You may even want to carry less-lethal force (tazers, telescoping baton, bear mace, etc) with you for situations involving muggings/jumpings that dont necessarily call for killing someone but allow you to end the confrontation. I doubt you'd personally want to shoot two youngsters for suckerpunching you for your phone but wouldn't feel bad about tazing the garbage out of them. However, those same 2 knuckleheads have a machete or knives and I think shooting them would be in your best interest....

Exercise good judgement and situational awareness and do your best to not put yourself in compromising positions. Sometimes you can't help it but most often you can (i.e. walking alone at night in high crime areas, keeping distance from undesirable characters, etc)

How much for an OZ of reefer?

Oh yes, to answer your question you should absolutely get a gun.  The only thing that can stop a cracked out-phone robbing bad guy with a gun is a good person like yourself with a gun.

.....or you could offer to bake the mugger a pie.

An eye for an eye. Don't shoot em in the face though. Shoot em in the crotch. Let em live after you reverse rob them.
