A big part of our ability to operate, update and moderate this forum at Covers.com comes from the relationship with our advertisers.  Recently those advertisers have begun to crackdown and set higher standards for content where their ads display on a daily basis.  In order to appease our advertisers who are very valuable to the future growth of this forum, we need to implement some updates to the Community Forum guidelines.

We love porn and nudity just as much as you, but any images, avatars & links containing nudity or pornographic material are now banned from the forum.

Users are no longer able to post active links in threads. You can still post the URL you want users to view, but now other users will have to copy the link and paste it in the browser themselves. Don’t be lazy; it’s just one simple step.

Lastly, remember that we’re always watching what you post. We reserve the right to remove and ban any users we feel are not meeting the guidelines. We don’t want to do it, so please don’t give us a reason to.

Please take some time and review the full Community Manifesto http://www.covers.com/postingforum/forum_manifesto.aspx.

Don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.

Yea, I don't get what advertisers would have a problem with posting active links. I call bs on that one. Someone probably complained and ruined it for the rest. I mean who really copies and pastes a link anymore?

I've got a better idea.  Why not charge users a small yearly fee in order to use the forum.  This way you get your money and you weed out all the jackasses who take the time to make new accounts just to garbage on other people.  Even better, we get to keep posting links and porn as well!

After all, if people are willing to spend money betting on a game, surely they could fork some dollars over for a subscription as well if they really enjoy the website.

never thought I'd see the day when you'd give in to the corporate people

@ Canada Chris, great idea but VERY FEW would be willing to pay for access to the Covers forum and the sports stats info

Oh boo fking hoo. I can go to a porn website if I want to view porn. I used to come here to view garbage about sports. Go to ovguide if you want porn. There is about 20,000 websites dedicated to porn. Do we really need to use Covers for nudity? Thats why I love Youtube so much.No porn just quality videos when you want to see a video. I can look at porn all I want I dont need covers to do it.

You guys are ridiculous. Bitching about links? You have to be joking. All the FREE info Covers gives you and you are worried about posting links? Yes it sucks not to be able to. But like I said boo damn hoo. Who fking cares. This is supposed to be for gambling not showing links. I like showing links also but other than my famous top 100 porn site list I threw up there three years ago I have never posted porn. Its stupid and immature. Yes I did post the top 100 sites but it also got over 500,000 views well worth my time.

Yes, it is a sport gambling forum and personally I could care less about the porn, but you cannot deny that their are tons of sports related news stories that are not posted here at covers and need to be linked to get to them, not to mention if you wanted to share an interesting point of interest in the General forum or any other forum related to your topic.

And not only that, but if you want to link to a problem thread/post/tout in the Help section, you can also no longer do that. And I assume that you also cannot in Private Messages either.

It doesn't make sense why you would still be allowed to post a link, but not have it clickable since accessing it is as easy as Highlighting it and then right clicking it and selecting "Open Link". Sure it only takes an extra few seconds, but that is something that almost every single website on the internet allows.

I was curious if this was done to try to eliminate/deter spammers/touts from spamming the forum with their links, but I've noticed that they have somehow already found a way around this using a special HTML code, so they apparently can still override the disabled linking.

So tell us all what advertisers are complaining?  Seems a little crazy that advertisers would be advertisting on a site that promotes gambling, yet have a problem with porn.

Really who are these pick and choose moral advertisers?

Seems like activity had dropped off markedly, boys. Maybe time to consult with those all-powerful advertisers.

I would be up for this. No nudity, come on are you serious. They can take a persons money, family, and life but they find nudity where they advertise to be of moral issue. I am floored!

Serious question

Are advertisers dictating the plays when it comes to forum content  ??

If someone or even if several posters don't like a particular advrtisers' product, do they say ban him and you guys comply ?

Ragingstorm... it's not about porn and nudity. It's about NOT being able to do what you used to be able to do. There were virtually no limitations on what we could post. Now there are and people do not like things being taken away. Now, if I stumble upon a stunning nude photo of a woman that I want to share, I can't do it. It was fun to share stuff like that, and now we can't. And that sucks.

What's the next limitation we'll have to abide by? This sucks. Just sayin'.

At least the new ads are finally getting classy.  Hulk Hogan recently sleeps with another man's wife, and now he is pimping testosterone products on Covers.

"Whatcha gonna do when the Hulkster runs wild on you with his boner?"
