... and then we can start listing the top elites who are undefeated but have major question marks on some of their wins.
This top 10 is based on what we have seen so far on the field, regardless of the pre-season status quo.
#1. Louisville - Hands down the best team in the county. Blowing out every single opponent thus far, home, away, FSU, doesn't matter. Lamar Jackson is a beast and Louisville is well on the driver's seat to make the playoffs.
#2. Alabama
#3. Ohio State
- So here's the deal. Alabama beat Ole Miss by one score, who got destroyed by FSU, who got destroyed by Louisville. Ohio State won at Oklahoma but the Sooners lost to Houston. Still, it was Ole Miss' superbowl at home, and the game was well put away before the backdoor. The upcoming SOS greatly favors Ohio State.
#4. Michigan - Michigan has played no one but they were all pretty much blowouts. Big showdown coming up at Wisky.
#5. Houston - Winning at Oklahoma was fantastic. When was the last time anyone won at OU by double digits?
#6. Stanford
#7. Texas A&M - Most impressive resume out of #7-10 imo.
#8. Clemson
Here is my problem: Clemson beat lowly Auburn by just 6 points. It was a backdoor but also beat TROY by less than a TD. So while teams like Houston, Michigan and OSU are blowing mediocre teams out of the water and posting signature wins, Clemson pretends to "hide its cards" and play dumb.
#9. Washington - Washington has enough blowout wins and a staggering defensive performance, that the close game at Arizone can be overlooked, because...
#10. Wisconsin - The LSU win means nothing now. Beating GA-So at home by just 6 points is pretty pathetic too.
Projected playoff picture:
#1. B1G Champion (Ohio State or Michigan)
#2. Louisville
#3. Alabama or Texas A&M if undefeated
#4. Stanford if undefeated
I honestly think the Big 12 and Pac 12 are f*cked. Houston will lose to Louisville. So that leaves us with one slot open for a non-power conference. I don't see anything besides potential cannibalism across ESPN's top... 15! Open for discussion.
