Coach Stockstill has done a very good job at MTSU and is entering his 10th year in Murfreesboro. In his contract he was due to make an extra $100,000 a year for the next 4 years. He currently is making a little over $700,000. Coach Stockstill turned down the raise to give MTSU the flexibility financially to give their players full cost of attendance. Here is what Coach Stockstill told the press:
" I went to our AD Chris Massaro at the end of the season. I knew financially we were going to be in a tight place with full cost of attendance. I told him i want to make sure that we can pay the money. I wanted to do this. By doing this we save $400,000 over the next 4 years to get us through cost of attendance and hopefully a start on getting improved facilities which we need"
Coach Stockstill will make $721,000 a year for the next 4 years. Plus his contract was extended through 2023. C-USA announced they will pay full cost of attendance starting in August
Nice to see a coach looking out for his players. He's still making good money.
