Top 5 players at their positions of all time

With my own eyes, while in college playing the collge game, best I have seen are:

1) Vince Young

2) Andrew Luck

3) Dan Marino

4) Cam Newton

5) Tim Tebow

I didn't give the why .... my bad...

1) Vince - I was at the Rose Bwol and I defy anyone who was actually there to say truthfully he wasn't the greatest QB you've ever seen.  He won a championship in the greatest CFB ever played against a team that was better than his.  You can't ask for anything nore;

2) Stanford. Andrew is smarter than all of us.  And he can play.  Better than all of us.  And he will be a hall of fame pro if he doesn't get hurt.  We are all just parasites; Andrew is great.

3) I admit I'm letting my pro football bias enter into the equation; but Dan Marino was and is the greatest passing QB who ever lived.  The release.  The vision.  It was no different in college.  He was a man among boys - then and always.

4) Cam was a mannamal.  He is here because perhaps more than any other QB ever - without him his team would never have won anything, much less an NCAA (mythical) championship.  Bottom line is he was (is) an incredible athlete who produced when he had to and won a title. Kudos Cam :)

5) I didn't want to like Tim so much, but I have to - he wins; most importantly for me is he f*cking ran over people as a QB - never saw any other QB do that like him.  As much as I cringe at the sanctimonius religious stuff, I cannot deny he is a man.  He deserves respect.

I wasn't watching much football at the time when Tommie Frazier won his ring so I didn't get to see him that much - will youtube some highlights, no doubt a great, great player on an incredible team.

Now for pros, for my money no. 1 QB of all time - when considering all facets of the position, tangible and intangible, it isn't even close - Joe Montana. 

Okay - College RBs it is ....

1) Reggie Bush - incredible game speed, change of direction, vision, and power (very under-rated, Reggie played college ball at 205 but could bench over 400 lbs - extremely strong player despite his world class speed and agility). As great as his plays looked on TV, in person you would literally just drop your jaw because there were no words. A human highlight reel.

2) Earl Campbell - way ahead of his time; unmatched power, extremely fast for a 220 lb back, I saw Earl live in numerous games so I am biased for him I know, but I also saw him outrun many safeties and corners who had the angle on him.  Also never saw one man bring him down in college, and almost never in the pros. As a senior he ran for 1750 yards in an 11 game season facing 9 men in the box every play with little semblence of a passing game to take keep the back end honest.  Incredible.

3) Barry Sanders - we're really splitting hairs here, because the difference between all these top backs really comes down to personal preference, not that one was so much better or worse.  Definitely a case can be made that Barry Sanders was the best college back ever.  Certainly among the top 5 of anyone's list. Rare blend of power, quickness & elusiveness.

4) Bo Jackson - another incredible blend of power and speed.  Bo was physically perhaps the most gifted, but I think a notch below in his elusiveness/change of direction - he just ran by or ran over most of the time.  Unbelievable athletic specimen.

5) Adrian Peterson. Guy has it all - power, speed, toughness, motor.  The difference between guys like Peterson and Bush is they play in the modern era, where there are many more guys on the field who are both extremely strong and extremely fast.  In past decades, maybe just a very few elite speed/strength guys on the field at one time - now there can be a dozen or more.  All day really has no weaknesses to his game.

Which brings me to the glaring omission of Jim Brown.  The only reason he isn't listed in top 5, for me, is because of when he played.  He was obviously decades ahead of his time, but I have only seen him on film (and low quality b/w film at that).  I can't really gauge how he would be against the speed of today's game - would he dominate games or would he be just another really good back? Players are so much faster in masse today, I don't know so I leave him off.  The other guys, I have seen them all live and in person or on HDTV which is the next best thing and they're the best I have personally seen.

  I would have to add McFadden on my RB list .He was just incredible and u had to hold your breath every time he touched the ball.If u look at the players Tebow had around him at Florida u wonder how even that 2009 Bama team just beat them up all over the field in SEC Championship game..Nebraska was so good they went undefeated without Frazier the 94 season.He is certainly underrated.Charlie Ward was downright remarkable too.I thought FSU had the best team in the counrty in 1992..I thought Miami just flat underestimated Bama and got rolled in National Championship that yr.How u cant get up for the National Title ILL never know..Like Ive said before Bama is 6-0 in National Title games since Ive been watching 1978..They have really only been challenged once and that was the Goal LINE Stand vs Joe Pa s PennState 1978 team..the 1st National Title I ever saw.
