Good stuff tonight. Montero barrels up delighting Cub backers and overs. '16 Cubs defeat '08 Phillies in first game of NLCS. Madden needs to shake off his performance, enjoy the win for 20 minutes and then figure out a way to win a playoff game against Kershaw.......don't care much about short rest. We have a good idea how he will pitch tomorrow night.

I was at the game. I thought the exact same thing. It worked out but man I agree. Dumb move. Almost backfired like in game 1 vs San Fran
Lester struggled just a bit in the beginning of the 6th but came roaring back to close the inning. He had great momentum after that and could clearly go another inning, maybe 2, was under 80 pitches, up 2 runs.
But we'll never know what would have happened, jealous you were at the game. I was 2,573 miles away in South America in my apartment surrounded by computer screens, smartphone, scotch, beer, a Bolivar Coronas Extra, trying to outscream my neighbors who were watching Atletico Nacional futbol match. I WON!
All the talk about Kershaw's back injury 3 months ago (is that really still an issue?) and lot's of pitching in the recent past, won game 1, started game 4 on little rest, closed out the Nats (7 pitches), blah blah blah blah.
You CANNOT and I repeat CANNOT underestimate this guy and adrenaline.
But if I am Roberts I don't pitch Kershaw tonight. I know they gotta win one on the raod but uh... Roberts pitching decisions got them to here so.. I just see a potential backfire.
