Darn good deal for the Royals and Moose gets to stay where he wants to be. The chemistry mix on the Royals is important and he is a part of that. Solid deal and if he hits his full potential the Royals will reward him for it. If not, the deal is fair but he can proceed without any feelings of insecurity. The chemistry of a player and his mental/emotional impact on his team is not something PECOTA or WAR can measure and the Royals could continue to confound those systems.
Now and then even a BLIND squirrel can find an acorn

Never quite understood war...especially for position players. There's 8 other guys on defense, starting pitching, bullpen, team hitting, umps...all in which are a part of "wins" or losses.
I guess war may hold a little more water when applied to a starting pitcher, for his single performance on his particular start days are more significant to "wins" or losses.
Any way I think the Royals are doing a tremendous job in keeping a world series caliber team in tact. Gotta love their hit for contact approach, something Moustakas is a part of. Guy showed major progress from 2014 to 2015...

Hitting coach Dale Sveum is a great communicator. His guys listen to every word. Now that's chemistry that no stat can show us. The royals might be one of the greatest contact hitting teams of all time when you look at their 2015 #'s. Even the eye test told you they hit everything and rarely strikeout. It's no wonder(in hindsight) why Robin Yount vouched for Sveum.

Nutshell-watch video, win the 3-2 battle, no technical jargon (simple sample "I'd like to see your hands higher")
Dusty Baker, when he was a hitting coach for the Giants, was similar. One of his terms for the back foot turn was "squish the bug".
Since there is imitation of winners all over the place, you might see teams use this approach to hitting like the Royals. And like the Mets, embrace young starters, and big fat Mexicans.

You may gave a point there Hawk. Teams are already starting to copy the Royals bullpen approach, why not their contact hitting approach as well. Stats are used to compile things like WAR and PECOTA, but do not and can not measure contribution and chemistry. Clutch play at one point in the game can be far more meaningful than overall individual stats.

When see someone making jokes about Mets, it always remind me about joke when Peggy asked Al Bundy,
What you watching?
Harlem Globetrotters
After watching some time, Oh, it's so entertaining, too bad that in baseball they don't have so funny teams like that
