The Marlins would get Escobar and Hechavarria and Henderson Alvarez. Looks like the Marlins are pulling a Red Sox move.

You are not mentioning that the Marlins are also getting 3 of the Jays top 10 prospects

So far the only confirmed names are:

Jays get: Reyes, Johnson, Bonifacio, Buck, Buehrle

Marlins get: Yunel Escobar, Hechavarria, Henderson Alvarez and rumors have it anywhere from 3-5 of their top 20 prospects with 3 being in top 10

Changes the whole division, monster trade. Now they have four catchers, next move AA. Dont be surprised if they add Marcum. They opened up the wallets.

Marlins get:

2) Jake Marisnick, OF, Grade B+
: .263/.349/.451 with 26 walks, 55 strikeouts, 10 steals in 266 at-bats for High-A Dunedin, then .202/.292/.263 with nine walks, 25 strikeouts, seven steals in 114 at-bats for Double-A New Hampshire. Overmatched so far against advanced pitching, hitting .125 in his last 10 games. Tools are just fine, but not ready to deploy them in the majors yet.

4) Justin Nicolino, LHP, Grade B+: 2.63 ERA with 97/14 K/BB in 99 innings for Lansing, 92 hits, 1.51 GO/AO. I like him almost as much as I like Syndergaard.

and 1 of Arencibia, Wilson, Mathis

All indications are Marisnick is going to be very good, but you have to win now, not three years from now when Bautista is on the downslide. JP is good but 4 catchers? Have to wait until its finalised.

Alright, now whats up with Giancarlo Stanton? I think the Padres have arms and trade chips to make a deal and they are looking for an everyday Right Fielder.

Stanton is not going anywehre. This trade was made to free up payroll so they could sign him to a huge longterm deal.

They wrent going to be able to keep JJ. Buehrle is owed 48 mil over the next 4 years and Reyes has a huge contract.

Marlins made out well in this deal just as the Jays did.

Biggest aquisition for the Jays here is Johnson. The guy is a stud, and is one of the most underrated starting pitchers in baseball. He is a much better pitcher than his W/L record indicates and he is the one guy I would think twice about when fading the Marlins this past season. He and Morrow will are on par with any 1/2 punch AL not named Verlander/ Shertzer.

Jays have shown they are not scared to deal prospects to make a legitimate run now. Towards the end of last season they dealt Thames and Snyder to Seattle and Pittsburgh for Delobar and Lincoln to add depth to their bullpen and now they are willing to do the same to get depth in their starting rotation.

Last year Edwin Encarnacion emerged as a true elite hitter in the in absence of Jose Bautista, and it will be scary to think of a healthy Bautista and Encarnacion 1/2 punch in the 3rd and cleanup spot. Jose Reyes is exactly what the Jays needed here - a guy that can get on base in front of these two. Obviously the guy is a stud and one of the premier players at the postion, but the Marlins got a pretty good SS theirselves in Escobar to fill the void, not to mention Hechevarria, who I could see becoming one of the very premiere second basemen in baseball 5 years down the road,

The move makes sense for both teams. Marlins will be getting added depth across the board, as well as securing positions for years to come; not to mention dumping millions off their payroll. Jays are clearly looking to make a run for the gold now, as evidenced by them opening up the wallet on this blockbuster deal as well as aggressively resigning Encarnacion only half way through last season (VERY wise move). Look out for the Jays next year, they are dead serious about making a charge at the Yanks/Rays for the division. The pieces are in place, all they need now is a good manager to get all these guys on the same page. Exciting time to be a Blue Jays fan!

Don't get too hyped up on Johnson. The Marlins tried to move him before the trade dealine but word was out that he's lost 3 to 4 mph on his fastball.

On the other hand, you are really going to enjoy watching Bonifacio on the basepaths....

Jays speed is going to be SCARY. Rajai Davis has been in top 2 in stolen bases in the AL each of the past two seasons and Anthony Gose might be the fastest player in baseball. After being called up in mid August managed to snag 15 last year only playing on a part time basis. Reyes will definitely add some speed over Escobar on the bags, and Bonifacio can really fly. Don't forget about Lawrie, that kid has jets too.
