Texas has more wins 57 to 51

Texas has better pitcher

Harrison 12-4 2.87 era on the season

Harrison 8-2 2.76 era on the road

Texas is 8-2 in Harrison's road starts

Dan Haren is just going off the disabled list

Haren is 6-8 4.86 era on the season

Haren is 2-5 4.53 at home

Angels are 2-7 in Haren's home starts

Yet the linesmaker said on the last game of the night. That the Angels are going to win by making them the opening line favorite.

Now why would anybody argue with the linesmaker ????

Do they honestly think they know more than L.V.S.C. ????

Angels opened as the fav and now is the dog when it's the only game of the night.  There's nothing left to say.

The line is right... vegas wants money on both sides. You couldn't possibly make Texas a HUGE favorite or else plenty of people would take a good Angels team for good + money. You couldn't possibly make the Angels a HUGE favorite with Dan Haren taking the mound vs Harrison. The line is perfect and welcomes money on both sides.

I think the better bet is the over.  Don't over think this one, like Spoc said Harrison has a spotty era against the angels, and Haren is not going to be on his A game, should fly over the total if you ask me...

S.J. The problem with your theory is that TEX is being onesided on the betting front.

Yeah but why is the Over 8 at +100 and the Under 8 at -120?

Are you trying to impress us with your knowledge King Scorpio?  I'm not impressed, as Sharks said the goal of oddsmakers is to entice equal amounts of action on each side... Come on man you're smarter than to post this

Sometimes Vegas gives out a gift to the public every now and then.  It's good for long term business because it let's the public think they can "beat" vegas.

For the same reason the Rox/SD game was -135 under 7.5.

This used to be the oddsmakers goal.  Vegas has gotten a ton more sophisticated since then, and they now more often than not induce action on the side they want action on.  They'll pay out games they expect to pay out and rake on games they expect to rake 90% of the time.

Pastuer,What you say is true.Problem is - This is the last game of the week.Bettors must square away their weekly accounts after tonight's game. Not the time for Vegas to be giving away free money.

If that's true then the Over 8 is likely the gift and Angels ML the rake.  I'm sure vegas books more action on sides than totals and can afford to give away the over.

So the oddsmakers are enticing equal action when texas opens as underdogs for this game? Harrisson has given up less runs in his last 10 games than Haren has in his last 2, Texas offense>Angels offense in every single statistical catergoy, how is that drawing equal action?

TT , I could post some lovely graphs and charts making people feel  more comfortable with their betting options, but that's the work of a chartist illusionist.Common sense will always prevail over substance.

Why bet this game at all?  Vegas wins with the Vig.  We're all losers tonight (in the long run).

@King - I was not aware that Vegas books operated on a week to week basis, thought was only locals and why would "Vegas" worry about the locals?

I wish it worked out the way you said, otherwise many of us that think that way would be rich.  It works out both ways.  I see a lot of fishy lines and the fish still covers.....gL

You people and lines. I will NEVER understand. Pay no attention to lines and you will WIN AND LOSE the same as if you didn't. Except you will more free time to spend in your life.

i'm a kind of newbie, but what about UNDER? all factors point OVER, but the line hasn't changed. esp ump paul emmel's last 18 games - 17 OVER, 1 UNDER, but yesterday 9, then today 8? rangers hit well the other night, but overall their bat had been cold. anyone leaning UNDER?
