on the dodgers -0.5/first 5 innings, when was the last time the padres even won against kershaw let alone the first five innings even having the game dead even?  what i also love about this game is that it should really be lopsided in favor of kershaw but somehow it's not that bad (78%) taking the dodgers.  In looking at damage the padres do against kershaw, there were just 2 hitters that stood out, hundley, and hudson, that's it.  If anything, these 2 guys might get a single here and there, but no damage.  Volquez on the other hand i believe is going to be erratic and that is why i believe the betting the total is too iffy.  The big bats of the dodgers like kemp have very limited amount of plate appearances against volquez also, but i believe that juan rivera or matt kemp can get a homer off volquez in the first inning.  Mark ellis is also batting high in the order because he has had some extreme success vs volquez at 3/4 with a double, hr, 3 rbi, and 3 walks.

ethier 1/2 with a double and a walk
kemp 0/2 with a walk
rivera 2/5
uribe 0/1 with 2 walks
dee gordon and aj ellis = no plate appearances
loney 0-3 gidp 1 time but no k's

padres vs kershaw

bartlett 1/9 with 2 walks
denorfia 2/9
guzman 2/11 with a double but k's 5 times
headley 5/27 with a double 7 ks
maybin 1/6 with a walk
venable 2/10 with 2 walks
hudson 4/14 with 2 doubles, hr, no k's  <-----tough out for kershaw
hundley 6/18 with a double and a walk
alonso no plate appearances

i love the dodgers to shutout the padres first 5 and score at least 1 run or more

so kershaw retires the side in order, he made it look so easy, i don't feel the padres will score a run, dodgers just need to get aboard to give me confidence they will cover first 5 innings

now that's how you do it, let the dodger defense field the hard ground balls, no more getting behind in the count kershaw

gotta get alonso to allow hudson to lead off the next inning..  dodgers chance to score will be the top of the 4th since the bottom 3 of the order probably won't do much

well it looks like the only offense the dodgers can get are from the first 5 batters, the last 4 batters will be horrendous this season
