darn that. I thought it would be available any more there is a lotto retailer like a corner store.

Hmmmmmmmmm

Not a chance they would ever implement single game wagering in corner stores.  That's the equivalent to having a bookie on every corner of the street.  The crime rate would soar.

Well, it's how it works in England, bookmaker shops literally in every neighbourhood. I am think it's that crime ridden?

I am in Mississauga, so like an hour drive to my nearest casino [niagara]. Hopefully Toronto gets that new casino to save travel time.

If it passes I doubt we'll see single game wagers at the corner store and if it did the retailer gets a cut so the lines would be 1.60 on a pick'em. BCLC overhauled their sportsbetting site last summer and the sportsaction as well, the odds are much better online than at the 7-11.

All signs point to this bill being voted against now....

The vote should take place towards the end of November/early December

Hopefully the provinces & gambling authorities will do some last minute lobbying / grease the wheels to get this passed.

Feb 5/13 Senate returns from Xmas break. Gives us plenty of time to sign the "pro" petition at http://www.change.org/en-CA/petitions/senate-of-canada-pass-sports-wagering-bill-c290-2...don't think you need to be a Canadian either.

Thanks Covers for keeping tabs on this story. I think the tide is turning towards the "pro". Reason will prevail and this bill will pass.

    http://www.lindafrum.ca/Speech_on_Bill_C-290.html

Most resent debate on 12 Feb., too busy to continue yesterday.. If you wont a good laugh, read speech or should I say a good cry. Does Linda Frum believe that by not passing this legislation, it will stop sports betting? An industry that is estimated to be two to three times larger than the auto industry. Is the Senate of Canada, the moral guardian for Canadian society?. If it is, then all the Hon. members would demonstrate integrity and resign. I'm certain that the illegal books are delighted her intended vote...

Thursday no debate on Bill C-290. The Senate adjourned until Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at 2 p.m. What A life.

Update: No further debate on Bill C-290 since 12 Feb. Oh yes, Senate chamber has met 4 (FOUR) days since then. What a job!  Since some of the Hon. members don't understand and/or don't wont to know the difference between a single bet chance of winning (50%) and required parlay (25% or less),. why would we expect them to have their expense accounts right.

I had a good feeling but now it seems like this is just going to be forgotten about & die.

Agree-I'm not too optimistic; This bill will likely die a slow death with no vote since the Senate will probably break for summer in like 2 weeks! What an embarrassment...

As Canadians, I don't understand why people are getting so upset over this. Sure, it would be nice to have it legalized, but it really doesn't matter. With Pinnacle available to Canadians, why does it really even matter? Are you going to constantly drive back and forth from the casino, which the odds would probably be -120 a side? I know I'd much rather place my wagers from the comfort of my own home at -105 a side, sometimes even better. The money you would save from not having to drive and pay -120 a side would be quite significant. Again, I understand it would be "cool", but as Canadians, it surely isn't a necessity.

The only logical thing I can think of is powerful people are paying for these bills not to be passed. Las Vegas wouldn't be Vegas if you could start wagering on sports anywhere. You would see beautiful resorts going up in Canada and states across the US. The only thing keeping sports betting in Vegas is money, money from the corporate corrupt heads in Vegas. Their reasoning for not passing these bills is downright pathetic. They couldn't make it more obvious that there's a hidden agenda keeping this from happening. As I stated before, lucky for us Canadians we have the best book that ever existed, Pinnacle.

out here we have playnow.com which is similar to most offshore sites except with a 2 pick minimal parlay, millions of $$ leave the country which could be used at home, they already have the software ready if single games become legal, the main hold up is actually the Blue Jays and nhl lawyers who oppose .

So you have playnow.com which is the same format Windsor Casino has with the OLG. So you cannot legally bet online with Pinnacle?

No, we can bet offshore still, offshore is not "legal", because gambling and lottery winnings is not taxable the goverment doesn't give a f*ck.
