Glen Gulutzan named had coach of the Calgary Flames. He replaces Bob Hartley, the 2015 Jack Adams Award winner, who was fired on May 3.
Gulutzan, who was an assistant coach with the Vancouver Canucks for the past three campaigns, has been reported to be the front-runner for the position for weeks.
It would be his second shot as an NHL boss after coaching the Dallas Stars for two seasons (2011-13).
Prior to that, he was head coach of Dallas’ American Hockey League affiliate from 2009 to 2011 and guided them to the Calder Cup final in 2010. He also spent six seasons as the head coach and general manager of the Las Vegas Wranglers of the East Coast Hockey League, the one-time ECHL affiliate for the Calgary Flames.

From what i have seen & when reading up on this cat he looks like a very smart hockey man. Time will tell if he was the right man for the head coaching job in cowtown.

Flames got some other worries too. Johnny Gaudreau, Sean Monahan and Josh Jooris ALL RFA's along with goalie Joni Ortio. goalies Karri Ramo, Jonas Hiller and Niklas Backstrom all UFA's although the Flames would probably be looking to DUMP the last two esp IF they could "upgrade" their goaltending over the summer (a deal with Pittsburgh for Fleury ???)
teams looking for offense COULD make a "takeout" bid on Gaudreau and/or Monahan. THAT would definitely HURT as they were 1st and 2nd in scoring for Calgary
