#9 Posted: 9/15/2012 10:45:59 AM Does anyone actually believe what the owners are going to lock out the players for Think about all the in-roads the NHL has made in non hockey markets and the increase in monies generated from 2 billion to 3 billion dollars! Now they want to risk a backlash from the fans over a few % pts of HRR? I dont believe it for one minute. gary and that boondoggle they call the coyotes is what is behind this "lockout" or as i would rather put it, stalling for time. Once jamison and his 278 other non descrpt fake investors ink the deal, we will see an end to this fake lockout. Im right, wait and see |

#11 Posted: 9/15/2012 1:02:39 PM Bettman knows hockey fans are loyal and will wait that's why he is confident. Except that they will lose all the new fans in the states that they probably just gained in the last couple of years. He could give two shits about Canada we are all loyal and waiting it's a small percentage that they will lose and also potential fans. I hate to say it but I think the players give in here if anyone - I don't want them to but at the same time I want hockey. Probably no hockey for awhile guys. I dunno what I am gonna do all those fall/winter nights at 7 o'clock..

 Goodbye hockey..

#13 Posted: 9/15/2012 3:10:17 PM already the Russian "defections" to the KHL start....
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=405251 >>> MALKIN, GONCHAR PRACTICE WITH KHL TEAM, COULD PLAY THURSDAY
Geno back to his home town of Magnitogorsk where he started his hockey career
and I agree with wiggins. it's Billionairs fighting with Millionairs and they are going to KILL the GOOSE. as Dangerbay said, WHY would you SCREW with the previous contract which saw the league revenue jump from $2 Billion to $3 Billion? BOTH Bettman AND Fehr are friggin IDIOTS. I thought that person were supposed to be SMART about business? |

#17 Posted: 9/15/2012 6:57:59 PM I have 6 year old son who lives and breathes hockey but darn both sides. Once both these fuckface sides agree to start up, dont go to, watch or buy any merchandise from NHL for this year. The owners cry broke and there has been how many 6-7 year contracts upwards of 30-35 million this summer?
darn both sides, hope they dont play a game this year. That has to be great for all the improvment in fan base in such hockey hotbeds as, Carolina, FLA, Columbus. |

#18 Posted: 9/16/2012 2:26:23 AM Is this lockout worth saving $15 mil or so in players salarys??? Business has never been better in Van City, I think it's those old senile billionare people out east that's pushing for this to avoid cutting cheques for revenue sharing, anyways why do they always target the players for rollbacks? God knows this league is full of overpaid coaches and gm's. What the darn do guys like Burke do to justify a 3 mil salary?? |

Wiggins........... You are ignorant............ They are priviledged to have parents that get up at 4 in the morning and take their kids to practice......... Their fathers go to work (Fathers, get it.?) while the mother's work even harder raising the kids...............
You need to smarten up...... Grow up..... Be a man..... I know, it's the white man fault.......................But do your best............ |

#22 Posted: 9/16/2012 5:19:51 PM well WHAT the darn would YOU say it IS, faceoff? HOW the Hell is wiggens being "ignorant"?
you got these two arrogant fool Bettman and Fehr in a "my person bigger than yours" contest over nickles and dimes and BOTH the players and owners are going to lose millions in the process. just plain STUPID when the league has finally gotten good national coverage here in the States with NBC Sports and, like Dangerbay said, revenues have gone from $2 billion to $3 billion during the last contract.
I just hope NBC Sports picks up more NCAA Hockey. I actually like watching the college kids as much as the pros. people in Canada are lucky because I'm sure TSN will pick up a bunch of Major Juniors which is also good, fast paced hockey. |

#24 Posted: 9/16/2012 5:26:31 PM i may not be white but i am privileged too its really not an insult. ive seen some try to play hockey but cant because their parents cant afford it. one of my closest buds had to stop because too many siblings
i played hockey and waking up early is not a struggle for anyone. its an inconvenience.
look at the difference in the way people were brought up in other sports and hockey
very few stories of very poor players making it in hockey. it just cant happen...the sport is too expensive. every other one simply requires a ball. hockey needs equipment and a facility. there are very few grassroots programs for hockey
i am sorry but if waking up early and travel is what people have to overcome to play a sport i dont consider that really difficult. the socioeconomic conditions for the majority of hockey families is quite favorable to other sports.
