I'm personnally NOT that NUTS about getting Parise esp at the probable price. Suter on D, YES
and I will agree that $2.5 million for Prust is probably a bit much. |

#28 Posted: 7/1/2012 11:49:47 PM Ya I have heard the prices for both those guys are 12-13 years ranging from 80 to 90 million
I wouldnt mind it too much as a Pens fan since Crosby-Parise would just be insane.
But I do agree if Crosby can make mediocre players look great you might want to shore up that D and protect Fleury so Suter might not be a bad option.
I am interested to see which of Weber or Suter suffers from playing without the other - if any.

I'm with you. The Wild took their lumps and put themselves in good salary cap position with a ton of prospects on the door step. I'd hate for them to blow all that by overpaying big time for Parise. And I think they will have to do that to have a chance to get him. |

#30 Posted: 7/2/2012 11:47:25 AM Wild beat writer said he was 95% sure Suter follows Parise to MN IF Parise signs with them. That is a big if.
MN has made offers to both players.
Sounds like Suter isn't going to make a decision anytime soon. But we know how that crap can change. |

i am interested too, how many times have we seen players seperate that had chemistry, to be not as valuable as we thought? although prusts deal might be considered a bit much, everybody needs high energy players like this, talbot had a great year in philly.for about the same price 1 year earlier |

#33 Posted: 7/2/2012 1:23:12 PM One other item re. Parise....if he signs with MN, Koivu will not give up his number. That would leave the 11 for Parise (which was his old man's number). I honestly wonder if that factors into the decision in any way, shape, or form.
Also, he went to UND instead of the U of M for college. Maybe he just doesn't want to play in front of his home state fans 41 games a year.

#34 Posted: 7/2/2012 3:06:19 PM im not excited because i know the Bruins arent going to be involved in anyway. They have some room and peices but arent in the talks for Nash which i think would fit well in Boston. |

#35 Posted: 7/2/2012 3:10:10 PM Garrison to the Canucks at 27.6m over 6 years = 4.6m a year.
I like this deal as a Canuck fan because we are getting a big shot from the point after losing Sami, a guy thats going to be in his prime, a good top 4 guy with some potential and we didn't overpay. Hometown guy too.
I like the deal I know he's only had 1 breakout year last year but there's some potential there to get better on a better team.
Sad about losing Sami he was a steady, solid guy when he wasn't hurt which most of the time was bad luck! I'll be cheering for Tampa on the side! |

#38 Posted: 7/2/2012 4:41:58 PM Parise to talk to reporters in 5 minutes.
If the Wild lose out, it won't be because of money. They were apparently willing to front load his contract to the tune of $26 million for the first year (if I understood it correctly).
Either way, they are emptying out the armored truck for him.
Word from a Pitt. reporter is that he wants to play there, but can't seem to separate from NJ. But how can they possibly pay him???

that would be a defiante "budget buster" for the Penguins and most other teams BUT when you have freeking Alexander Radulov going back to the KHL CSKA Moscow team for $9.2 million per year, ANYTHING is POSSABLE |

Wideman & Hudler and they have 1 M left to pay i guess...hope they get rid of Jokinen and some other clowns. I like the Flames to become a good team again.

#43 Posted: 7/2/2012 5:13:24 PM TSN.ca http://www.tsn.ca/blogs/scott_cullen/?id=399678 says RANGERS sign RW ARRON ASHAM for two years, $2-million A 34-year-old grinder who has done more fighting in the latter stages of his career, Arron Asham has dropped the gloves 45 times over the last four seasons while taking a regular turn on the fourth line in Pittsburgh. I guess he's a "replacement" for Prust's "grit". hate to lose him in Pittsburgh BUT we can probably find a younger less injury prone "tough guy' with similar skills. |

I kind of think Pitt is probably a long shot. Crosby has to demonstrate he can stay healthy (can't assume he gets injured, but he has a history). Malkin up after next year and are they going to be able to afford three 100 million dollar contracts? And their defense needs serious help.
Philly might be a dark horse, but why would Parise come home to Minnesota to announce that he's signing with Philly? I'd fly the family out if I were him.
Lou Nanne says he thinks it's going to be MN just looking at it logically. Sounds like he thinks Zach will make a decision by tomorrow afternoon. |
