#76 Posted: 5/29/2012 9:37:34 AM Skubi...when my Hawks won the Cup you could kinda just tell they were a team in a mission. Short hands goals, exciting games, little things like that. Getting the same buzz with Kings
BOL buddy and GO LA :) |

#77 Posted: 5/29/2012 1:20:53 PM Brodeur is going to look 65 years old in this 4 or 5 game series!

Good point with the Red Wings SCF but tough to agree with about the trap part... The Kings swept the Blues and beat the Yotes in 5, both of which are considered defensive minded teams, not exactly teams that execute the trap none the less tough to score on... |

#80 Posted: 5/29/2012 3:52:55 PM Jersey doesn't trap. They play defense by committee and forecheck like sh*t. They are offensive minded.
Both teams are somewhat mirror images. The only major difference is the Devils don't have a Doughty.
Both offenses are legit, but I give the slight advantage to the Devils because they are 4 lines deep.
LAK have a slight defensive advantage. And the goaltending is a classic matchup. Young stud vs. Grizzled Vet with 3 rings. People who say Quick is way better needs to give their head a shake. There is something to be said for playing in 4 Cup Finals. And anyone who has been watching the playoffs can see Marty has been stellar. Not the Marty of old, but stellar.
The most interesting matchup is the coaching.....two absolute beauties. Both extremely smart and capable....I'm interested to see the on-the-fly changes these guys makes.
This series is probably going 7 games. |

#82 Posted: 5/29/2012 7:26:52 PM Im wondering if the Kings can deal with the constant pounding Devils can put on you .Pretty evenly matched series.now after the devils beat Henrik the best goalie in the playoffs , probably the league. Kings also beat a good goalie in Smith, but Cotes dont have the complete team devils do.As far as goalies the kid Quick is coming on and Kings are a good road team but he still doesent rival Marty or Henrik for that And dont forget the Devils just won more that 1 game at MSG arguably one of the hardest places for any road team to play Kings prayers were answered not having to play at MSGShould be a 6 or 7 game series |

#85 Posted: 5/29/2012 11:20:54 PM Henrik isn't the best goalie in the league and he clearly wasn't the best goalie in the playoffs lol

#96 Posted: 5/30/2012 1:34:16 PM I hate to bet against the kings...to start it off.
Kopitar and Richards are just too smart and agile and quick is an exceptional goalie.
Quick made the mistake of saying he didn't care for the spotlight. Playing hockey, this is a part of the game and you can expect those devils fans to get on him aggressively.
To me East > West, I think that's pretty straightforward. Longer series' grittier games.
Henrick lundqvist and NYR defense would be NJ's hardest test for defense I believe...best bet here first game, is no bet at all. But I can't wait to see Ilya on the powerplay, the most deadly player on the ice and when you've got guys like parise and elias around you against a young inexperienced team, ah yay.

#97 Posted: 5/30/2012 2:45:52 PM The biggest question in this series will be, Have the Kings lost their momentum? Besides the layoff, the Kings did not have the energy in the last two games against Phoenix that they had in the two previous series. I would not go as far as to say they were flat, but they seem to be showing signs of fatigue. The question will be answered tonight in the first 5 mins of game 1. If they can regain the energy and jump they displayed in their first two series it will be Kings in 5. If they show up as the same team from game 4 and 5 against the Coyotes it will be Devils in 6. Hope it is a great series either way. Good luck to all!
