Memphis is bad on the road? Not always...
Let's take a look at some of Memphis big road wins this season....
Memphis beat Utah TWICE on the road, once by 7 on the road, as 7 and a half point underdogs. And once by 6 as 6 point underdogs.
Memphis beat Houston on the road, by 5, as 7 point underdogs.
Memphis beat Detroit on the road by 12, as 6 point underdogs.
Memphis beat LA Clippers on the road by 4 points, as 12.5 point underdogs.
Memphis beat Charlotte on the road by 15 points as 6 point underdogs.
Memphis beat New Orleans on the road as 4.5 point underdogs.
Now here's the big one....
Memphis beat Golden State on the road by 9 points, as 13 point underdogs.
And what makes this an even more spectacular win, This was a REVENGE match for Golden State, because Memphis had just beat them in the PREVIOUS match up at home, by 21 points, and they were 13 point underdogs in that game as well!
So they covered the spread by 34 points! And then they go into GS and beat them again by practically double digits again
So if you see the pattern above, you see Memphis has defeated pretty much every elite top team on the road this season, except for Spurs. So now they need to go in and win in San Antonio and the list will be complete. (If you bring up Cleveland, I just want to state that I don't consider CLE an elite team...And if it came down to it, Memphis could beat Cleveland in the finals)
This is the most important game of memphis' season. They know they can't go into SA and win a game 7. It's do or die time, right now. They have to win these next 2 in order to win the series.
They got the spurs right where they want them, off that nice upset win in OT in game 4. Spurs backs will be against the wall going into game 6, after Memphis smacks them around in this game 5. Then Memphis takes care of business at home and closes out the series in 6
Nobody wants to see the spurs win, they're getting old and stale. That's why I believe they script it for a Memphis win in this series. Has nothing to do with who the better team is. NBA will tug at people's hearts with Memphis winning this series. Lotta people will be excited to see the underdog win. I know I will be.
Hate to see you on the wrong side of this one, PH
