Hey guys I dont know anything about bikes but want to buy my wife and myself bikes. We will be using them on cement/sidewalk surfaces and prefer the wider type of wheel, mountain bike style I suppose.

Down the road we make take  a ride off road on flat dirt trails. Thanks ahead of time

Go to a reputable local bike store, tell them what you say here, and they will absolutely be able to help you out.  I ride on asphalt/cement mainly and also on hard dirt bike paths.  I have a mountain bike, but I have to bend over quite a bit to get to the handle bars.  I'm going to buy a new bike this winter and am going to look at more of a cruiser...but something I can ride on hard dirt bike paths as well.  But I want something more comfortable for riding on the road.  I am also going to get extended handle bars so I put less stress on my lower back.

Good luck.
