After watching the Cross Fit games on ESPN, I started researching and trying Cross fit training.  Any other Cross fitters out there?  Any suggestions or comments on this way of training?  Thanks.

I do the Wolverine version which is actually an intermediate level of intensity but always has been very well known for moderate enthusiasts.

Anything combining multiple muscle groups and high intensity is killer.

Calling it "crossfit" today but the multiple muscles and high intensity is the key.

Even old school garbage like clean and jerk is crossfit.

Nothing new here.

The key is the plyo tho............. for some reason, people got away from plyo couple dozen years ago.

I do the Tex Cobb version.  It's ugly and you take a real beating, but you stay on your feet, keep chopping wood and come out of it one tough as hell hombre.

Here's a sample:

Take any high school football routine.................. and copy that.

It's all plyo... calesthenics... and a few weights.

But when you get out there on your own and not on a team.......... everybody all of a sudden forgets the basics.

Boxer is better off trying to find a good meal than friggin around with lifting.

Meanwhile.............. don't be kicking sand on a boxer.

Lunch city............ They spend half their day trying to eat right.

Crossfit is an awesome workout. Downside is it's really difficult to do in a typical gym. Other people in the gym make it difficult to combine multiple exerices without being a douche bag. I have noticed some crossfit gyms popping up but their membership prices seem to run at double to triple normal gym costs. I'm not trying to drop $80-$100/month to do crossfit in a gym.

I have watched some videos of people who turned their garage into a crossfit gym for a couple hundred bucks.

It is a really good workout though, and really tough. I would love to do it more often but it's almost not realistic most of the time in my gym.

Good thread.

Gym???

Any park will work.

I go to a gym for "structure" purposes......... but it's all bodyweight garbage when I get there.  And I don't care if they laugh when doing plyo.

Can beat everybody's behind in the gym and they know it.

Other than a few shrugs, havn't even touched shoulders in a year.

Chest.......... lifted maybe 2-3 times in two years.

Only reason really go to the gym is for structure, air conditioning, small talk, and LEGS!!!!

But can hit the legs without a gym............... sprints.

Just like going to the gym.  So can watch TV and see what everybody else is doing.
