Ok, just thought I would fill you guys in on something I am doing.  A guy I know just did a 10 day juice fast, where he ate zero solid foods, bought one of those juicers, and drank nothing but veggie/fruit juice blends for 10 days.  Also no alcohol can be consumed.  He lost 8.5 lbs during that time!  Told my girlfriend about it, so she wanted us to try it.  Didn't start till Monday b/c I was in Tallahassee for the game all weekend, and there's no way I could pull that off over the weekend.  I'm down about 6 lbs since Monday morning.

Keep in mind though that my weight can fluctuate pretty easily.  For example, I weighed myself Thursday morning and was 188, which also happened to be the first time I've been under 190 in probably over a year.  I was pretty happy that the running and working out has been paying off.  Well this weekend was nothing but non-stop drinking and eating.  I haven't drank that much beer since college.  To top it off, we stop and eat at a buffet at one of the Biloxi casinos on the way home.  Arrive home late Sunday night and I weighed in at 196!  8 lbs gained over the weekend, lol!!  I figured a lot of is was water weight, and I was right.  Monday morning, I weighed 192.

So, instead of eating meals this week, I started juicing and would have a large cup of veggie/fruit juice for my meal.  Since I work out, I still do a protein shake after my work outs.  Not sure if this goes against the rules of juice fasts, but I needed those protein shakes.  I weight myself this morning (Wednesday), and I'm sitting at 186.  48 hours and I lose 6 lbs!  I'm pretty excited about this as I've been trying to get back to my "fighting weight" of 176.  I'll fill you guys in after the 10 days and let you know how it went.

Oh and I meant 10 Day Juice Fast in the title.  I guess the lack of food is making me loopy.

Man, as far as recipes go, I just throw a bunch of random stuff together.  I don't do exact recipes.  My fiancee bought a bunch of veggies/fruits and I've been just mixing stuff together.  The only thing that I try to make sure and do is include either plenty of spinach or kale.  The items I've been selecting from are:

Spinach, kale, celery, carrots, cucumbers, apples, peaches, plums, grapes, tomatoes, and parsley.

In every glass of juice, I try to put more veggies in than fruits.  My second attempt, I think I put in too much apples and grapes, and it turned out to be delicious.  But I'm pretty sure it's because there was just a ton of sugar in there.  Also, I think there are a ton of recipes online if you just google it.  I'm at 185 as of this morning!

Not sure why people always need these short cuts.  My 34's were starting to get tight due to laziness.  I cut a couple things out of the diet (namely going out to eat) and started biking 8-10 miles a day 5 days a week.  6-8 weeks later, my 34's fall off if I don't use a belt.

Exercise and eat right.  It's really that simple.

So you have lost 8 lbs in 7 days correct? Isn't most of that just water weight?

Well I just got back from the store and decided to buy one of these Naked drinks just to give it a shot...I bought a bottle of the Green Monster for $2.97 (which is pricey) but damn, some of the Naked drinks were going for freaking $3.99 a bottle which really is pricey. I will give it a shot and let ya know what I think.

Can't really disagree with you, but at the same time, this fast isn't about just losing weight.  I'm sure I'll gain a few pounds right back whenever I start eating solid foods.  But I'm hoping this helps me be more aware of what I eat and how much I eat.  I know what it takes to lose weight, exactly what you said... eat right and exercise.  I got from 195 to 188 in about 3 months from working out and running.  I probably could've lost more, but I have major eating problems.  That is, I love food so damn much!  I am a major foodie, and I can assure you I have no self control if there is good food sitting in front of me.  I over do it all the time.  Once I go back to eating solids again, hopefully smaller portions will get me fuller.  That's what my friend said happened to him, he noticed he was eating less in the days immediately after his fast.  If I can train myself to eat smaller portions and continue to work out, I'm thinking that I can get back in shape like I was in college and keep it that way.

Not quite sure where to measure myself from.  Like I said earlier, I was sitting at 188 before I went to Tallahassee.  Then I gained 8 f*cking pounds over the weekend!  Lol, that's pretty bad.  But most of it was definitely water weight as I haven't drank that much beer since college.  Also didn't help that we hit up a buffet at one of the Biloxi casinos on the way home.  Well, I literally lost 4 pounds from the night I got home to the next morning.  So at that point, I was at 192 and started the juice fast.  I will even say that maybe another 2 can be knocked off from the over-indulgence weekend.  So if I started keeping track at 190, then I would have lost 10 lbs in 9 days.

But like you said, most of it is water weight.  I do notice that I fluctuate throughout the day as I drink my juice, or even when I drop a deuce.  At one point today, I weighed 183.  Hoping I drop back down to 180 or lower tomorrow morning.  I will say that even though most of it is water weight, I do notice physical changes.  My friends told me last night that my face looked thinner.  Also, I dropped down one belt notch sometime during this past 10 days.

Crazy thing is... I haven't been getting hungry while juicing.  My stomach has growled literally 3-4 times at the most during this whole fast.  During this fast, I could drink three big cups of juice and a protein shake each day and be good to go.  However, I will say that when I see food or smell food, I really get the urge to eat.  But I just have to have some willpower and not think about it.  Though I am excited to eat some of my favorite foods again.

If you're looking for a push in the right direction in eating healthy/losing weight, I think you should give this a try.  I can't completely vouch for it as I don't know what I'm going to look like in a couple of months. But so far so good!

ogmike, add more fats to your diet, they won't make you add fatty weight, and they keep you from over eating as they are very satiating

thyis juicing doesnt' sound like it would last long term, standing alone as your only energy intake.
