The is plenty of speculation on what Paleo People used for medicine. Here is a list of some possible medicinal remedies used by them.

Spaghnum Moss- Antiseptic and can absorb a lot of fluid. Used like a dressing.

Willow Bark- Contains the same active ingredient as Aspirin

Horse Chestnut leaves- Boil them in water and can be used as a
soap/ antiseptic solution.

Chickweed- Same as Horse Chestnut leaves although not as good.

Birch Bark- When soaked in water and then placed aroubd a
splinted limb it can be used as a rudimentary plaster.

Aloe Vera- Good for numerous skin complaints including eczema.

Echinacea- Good for the immune system.

St. Johns Wort- Good for the immune system also.

Charcoal from hardwood- powder it, pour it in a cup of water and drink it, good as a cure for diarrhea.

Remember in that era, the incidences of many of the diseases of civilization such as high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, cancer, dental caries,  were very low compared with today so there would also be less need for medicine. Thanks to our advancement in medical science that we are now able to manage or cure most of these problems.

Personally I have noticed an increase in the amount of energy that I
have and  an improved lipid profile. Also,  I can go longer periods of time without feeling hungry because of the high fat content in my diet. Fat is very satiating.  The best part of this way of eating is that it is not structured in the amount of meals you eat and in the amount of food you eat per meal. There is no counting calories or portion sizes. You eat when you are hungry until you feel satiated. Most days I eat 2 meals but there have been days where I have eaten 1 meal or 5 meals.  I also dont get any cravings for junk food like ice cream, chips, donuts, cake etc like I used to when I was eating the SAD. Sugar acts like a drug in the way it affects our dopamine levels in our brain and gives us pleasure when we consume it which is why it is easy to get addicted to like many other drugs.   I keep my sugar consumption very low because sugar has many negative effects as we all know on our health and contributes signifiantly to us getting fat.   Most of my carb intake comes from non starchy veggies and low sugar fruits. The only dairy I consume is cheese, unsalted butter and pure ( not thickened -heavy) cream.  I have been eating this way for about 4 years.

Ok, so two months in, I made it to the doc for some bloodwork. I used to tell myself i weighed 275. I actually got on a scale in february before i changed my dieting, and was about 285. Well, the dr. said last time in, i weighed 291 . Now i weigh 221

I'm not sure what to make of the blood work.  They list reference range, but if they are set by the same people that design the food pyramid, no thanks. The only one flagged outside of the range was HDL

Chol - 160
Trig - 112
HDL - 38
LDL Calc  - 100

so by their POR, i ought to get my HDL up a tad, but they didn't express any concern when the results came in. They actually just said "you're good" with nothing else to say, but i wanted a copy of the results as i intend to drop my health insurance, and wanted a copy to show anyone that asks how i lost weight, and replies to my eating by saying it is "unhealthy" . I guess eating the garbage out of bacon and eggs sounds unhealthy for someone trained to follow the SAD, but usually someone else chimes in by saying "yea, but look at him"

My mom and sisters all went vegetarian over a decade ago. Well, one of my sisters ate bacon for the first time last week, and then tried some chicken crusted with almonds

She is a believer. Mom is coming around, but she swears that she doesn't like meat anymore. I tell her to at least make a stab at more fat and less carbs. At least i have gotten her to try (and cook) some more paleo friendly items. It definitely seems expensive to eat this way. At first glance. however, i think my monthly food bill is about the same, and getting healthy is priceless

I live in amish country, and i garden, so am privy to some local things others aren't as fortunate to acquire on the dollar-cheap

my weekly breakfast bill

4 doz free range brown eggs = 6$
3 lbs bacon = 8$
onions, peppers have been free from garden, and i scour the day old discount bins, can find mushrooms for .99, and most my meat i buy half off. had filets wrapped in bacon for breakfast on saturday while i smoked a pork butt that i bought for 60% off

I'm rarely hungry for lunch, but will snack on some nuts, and have made a gnarly granola substitute from seeds+honey and some other garbage. I grille extra meats, cut them up to put on salads, or will just take a small container along to work for a midday snack.

Supper, varies, and is likely more expensive then some other crap i used to eat, but what the hell. 6 gallons of local spring water to get through the week costs 1.50$, and i quit smoking so that 40+$ per week can go towards good fatty cuts of meat

When i started losing weight, with no plan other then to drink only water and avoid all sweets, i would drink a fruit smoothy every morning for bfast.  Now i'll have one for 'dessert' if i feel the sweet tooth. home grown frozen strawberries, raspberries and blueberries, had some jersey peaches i had sliced an frozen, and blend with some coconut milk. I leave it thicker and eat like a parfait instead of when i was drinking them for breakfast i made them runny
