I have several friends who love chinese food, but have never tried Thai. They think it sounds too exotic but man are they missing out. Thai is much more flavorful, less oil, and spicey.  My vote goes to Thai by a landslide. Yours?

If you guys have a Vietnamese community in your area, go get some Vietnamese food.  Pho is the best.

I love Thai food....

That being said, I love any/all different kinds of Asian food for their uniqueness from one another......

I'd probably choose most Chinese cuisines/regional styles, Korean or Vietnamese before Thai.

I like Chinese but it's just too oily for me and makes me feel bloated as i've gotten older in age.  Vietnamese is ok, but doesn't have the flavor or spice as Thai IMO.

I love really good authentic Sezchaun KQC.

A place called Brandy Hos in San Francisco on Columbus St. just N of Little Italy is the bomb in that category of Chinese.

I know so many great Thai restaurants , I wouldn't know where to start.

I love Thai coconut curry duck....

damn I'm starved now! ....

I haven't been there since moving from San Francisco to Florida back in 2001.....

I will take you up on that bubba.    I get some newish "around SF" restaurant updates via email, and I can tell that there are a ton of new restaurants across the board that I'm not familiar with anymore.... 

This thread makes me hungry......

I think people avoid thai because of the spice anxiety.. I like the heat, it does not have to overwhelming, but enough  so cant feel it...

I would advocate for korean...  spicy, great meat dishes like bugogi...and those spicy vegetables/kim chee...

japanese also... but some times there are korean owned restaurants that do both...

I think that chinese can be so diverse and you probably can find things that you would really like (while rejecting 75-85% of it)...

If you have had Dim Sum before you will know it is quite and experience, but will allow you to try alot of different dishes...

recently I ate at this bejing style hot pot restaurant that has like a spicy broth that boils in a pot on your table... you add vegetables, noodles and meats into the boiling broth to let it cook... after a few minutes you take it out and it is cooked with broth flavor in it... and you dont have that bad feeling afterwards because it is healthy...

Thai.  I love Chinese food as well, but it's too greasy at most places.  I make a spicy szechaun beef broccoli that rocks.  And it's not greasy at all.

That said, Thai flavors are just cleaner and more pronounced......and if made right, they don't overwhelm each other within the same dish.

I can honestly say that I have never had a Thai dish...I am not the biggest fan of Chinese food and only eat it occasionally, I guess I have never had Thai because the times I do crave "Asian food" I automatically assume Chinese.

What city do you live nearby in Texas? If you live near Houston and want to try Thai go to a place called Thai Cottage, they have several in Houston area.  It's amazing.

I grew up in Houston and lived in Cypress (Northwest Houston) but now live outside of Austin but I do travel back to Houston fairly often.
