I'm 5'8 and weigh 190 right now-- I was at 204.. all I did was stop drinking about 12 cans of coke a day.. beer and soda did me in... I was 170 and cut in college when I played baseball..Now im 33 and became F*cking LAzy       ..  well I have 3 months to make something out of myself..  I wanna be 170 by June 1st..  I just purchased a spinning bike--

   My question is this- I was able to get away from Regular Coke- But now all I do is drink diet coke-  can I lose the weight and still drink Diet coke???

Metabolic Diet( this diet works for me)

Day 1

Breakfast: Black Coffee, No Sugar. (Drink as much as you desire)

Lunch: 2 hard-boiled eggs and steamed or cooked spinach. (low salt - eat as much spinach as you wish)

Dinner: A large grilled or broiled steak (no butter or added oil) with all the green leaf salad you desire

Day 2

Breakfast: Black Coffee, no sugar and one slice of whole wheat or multigrain toast.

Lunch: One large steak. Green leaf salad, any variety of fruit. (You may include 1 boiled plantain)

Dinner: No Dinner on this day. You may drink tea with no sugar or have citrus fruit.

Day3

Breakfast: Black Coffee, no sugar and one slice of whole wheat or multigrain toast.

Lunch: 2 Hard-boiled eggs, steamed green beans and raw tomatoes

Dinner: Grilled or Roasted chicken or beef and green leaf salad

Day4

Breakfast: Black Coffee, no sugar and one slice of whole wheat or multigrain toast.

Lunch: 2 Hard-boiled eggs, Steamed or boiled carrots & raw carrots; any low fat cheese (laughing cow - up 4.oz)

Dinner: Fruit salad (any fruits you wish) & 6-8oz of plain yogurt

Day5

Breakfast: Raw shredded carrots with lemon or lime & black coffee (no sugar)

Lunch: Grilled , steamed or broiled white fish and raw tomatoes

Dinner: Large steak with green leaf salad

Day6

Breakfast: Black Coffee, no sugar and one slice of whole wheat or multigrain toast.

Lunch: Grilled Chicken... Nothing else.

Dinner: 2 hard-boiled eggs and cooked carrots

Day7

Breakfast: Tea w/lime or lemon ( any kind of tea, no sugar)

Lunch: Large Grilled Steak. Fruit salad

Dinner: Eat what you wish ( salad, pasta, meats - be sensible and watch portions)

Day 8-13: Repeat menu from days 1-6 again. You must follow this diet to the letter for full effect. Diet is designed to help you lose 18 lbs and increase your metabolism to prevent it from coming back.

Upon completion of the diet you may resume normal eating, but be sensible.

Note: Where portions are not outlined, you may use your judgment based on your appetite.

Should you get hungry, you may have any citrus fruits or green apples. Drink plenty of water throughout the day and non-sweetened tea or flavored seltzer.

I have done this diet twice and lost 18 pounds the 1st time and 22 the 2nd time

i've read some pretty convincing research on how diet is just as bad as regular soda (besides the calories). if you have already stopped drinking regular soda you might as well make the jump to completely shutting it out of your diet or at the minimum drink it very sparringly. 3-4 months to drop from 190-170 is certainly possibly if you were that overweight in the first place. just be consistent and do it in a healthy manner.

I switched to "Talking Rain" and other similar products that are like soda water that is flavored but has no sugar or calories...

Your diet plan looks good. I would cut out the diet soda because even though it does not contain any sugar, your body will still release insulin when it is consumed because the artificial sweetner will trick the body into thinking it is consuming a sugary beverage and insulin is a fat storing hormone. I think if you cut out the diet soda you can lose more weight faster than if you continued to drink it.

Your diet is entirely too extreme. You're going to lose too much weight too fast and still look sloppy.

Timdog, i recently stopped drinking soda's because they were also killing me.

I have now switched over to lots of water, but for a soda buy some zevia, it has stevia in it. No sugars at all and it tastes just like regualar pops. On top of that stevia is actually good for you.

I don't think pop is too big of a deal

i use to weigh 193 and lost 15 pounds in a month

cutting out all the fatty snacks i would have a night

throw a protein shake in there every now and then.  Maybe for breakfast.

You need to move away from this three meals a day plan. Look into diets that involve five medium/small meals a day. This will not only rev up your metabolism but help keep a constant source of protein in your body to help increase muscle function and even possibly build new muscle depending on your workout.

I eat a good breakfast, that holds me over until Lunch and then I use a product called Natraburst which is a super food powder I mix with milk.   That acts and works as a meal replacement.   I usually get hungry around 5 pm and eat a lighter dinner.   I work out 4 days a week, treadmill and light weights/pushups.    Its working! 

I am 5'9, now weigh 201, I was 207 a couple months ago.  Feel MUCH better and still going.   My goal is to get to 190lbs.

My family doctor who is retired at 69 is having major kidney problems.  They believe it is attributed to the massive amounts of Mountain Dew he drank.  I know him and he drank it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and between meals!   He even used it for his mixed drinks.  He has granular powder which was detected in his system and they think it is the artificial sweetener that has linger in his system.   Just sayin.....

Diet soda is worse than regular, it has aspartame.

12 sodas a day must have been thirty, as soon as

 you stop drinking soda, and start drinking water

you barely get thirsty.

Just found a vid on youtube that say one diet soda a day can increase risk of stoke by 48% (source: CBS early show by Dr Jennifer Ashton)
