Stereophonics play hit-laden set at V Festival

Kelly Jones and co play Chelmsford before Kings Of Leon

Stereophonics played the hits as they returned V Festival in Chelmsford this evening (August 21),

Performing before headliners Kings Of Leon on the V Stage, the Welsh band, playing the event for the sixth time, opened with 'Innocent' from last year's 'Keep Calm And Carry On' album, and played five others from the record during their 18-song set. The rest of the performance was given over to hits including 'Mr Writer', 'Pick A Part That's New' and 'Just Looking'.

Frontman Kelly Jones and the rest of the band kept chat to a minimum beyond introducing 'Have A Nice Day' as "a song that was written in San Francisco".

They did, however, break from that song to milk huge applause as stage lights lit up the crowd before they kicked back into the music.

Jones also gave a small nod to , singing, "The ace of spades, the ace of spades" during 'The Bartender And The Thief' near the end of their set.

They ended the show with 2005 UK Number single 'Dakota' before making way for the Kings Of Leon.

Stereophonics played:

'Innocent'
'A Thousand Trees'
'More Life In A Tramp's Vest'
'I Got Your Number'
'Superman'
'Pick A Part That's New'
'Mr Writer'
'Stuck In A Rut'
'Maybe Tomorrow'
'I Wouldn't Believe Your Radio'
'Uppercut'
'Have A Nice Day'
'Trouble'
'Just Looking'
'Local Boy In The Photograph'
'She's Alright'
'The Bartender And The Thief'
'Dakota'
