#2 Posted: 3/6/2010 6:30:21 PM I am huge EVH fan, but Dave sucks in that video. He started way too early and Eddie and to adjust. I am sure he was all coked out. |

#4 Posted: 3/7/2010 11:34:50 AM They were always messed up, which was part of the deal back then. I saw them on their reunion tour, they put on a good show, not great, but it was good. I am huge Eddie fan, so just seeing him was well worth it. |

#5 Posted: 3/8/2010 3:22:21 AM The video and then the train crashing on the stage for the ACDC Black Ice Tour was pretty wild. |

#8 Posted: 3/8/2010 7:34:57 PM Did you guys like Van Hagar in 5150?
I enjoyed both Vann halens, but I noticed the drop of in 1984-ish and maybe a little early that Dave Lee seemed out of his mind, and maybe it was out of frustration, but Eddie was showing a control freakish side of him that the more casual fans that just blew speakers out as kids didn't notice as of yet.
Gutcheck, not sure if you noticed my note to you , but I enjoyed relizing your point and the angle you were making it about being a huge difference being a player and a listener of guitars and guitarists. I was up all night learning stuff that I didn't know and getting new music of which was a lot of fun for me........I think I know a lot, but there are plenty more (like yourself) that know more about the subject on the topic of guitars than I do..

#12 Posted: 3/10/2010 11:06:56 AM Looks very cool .........I never got to see VH, which I regret
There are no vids for the best opening I've seen, although there are a couple that are close...........Ron Halford (Seattle-1979) rolling out onto a dark stage on a motorcycle & just sitting there revving it while the crowd goes nuts.......then they break into "Hell Bent for Leather".
I'm biased though..........to this day that's still the best metal concert I've seen...........helps that I was only about 10 people back from the stage. |

It very well could be the best opening ever... but on the same token,it could have been the worse ever too. After all these years, and hundreds of openings,I really haven't made up my mind yet.The band emerged from a giant spaceship with lights and lazers-a-blazin.As the crowd stood and cheered in awe..I sat back trying to absorb this spectacle. My next thought was... this giant UFO looks like a friggin Big Mac.I didn't know whether to get a radiation reading from it or run up onstage and take a bite out of it. |

#16 Posted: 5/17/2010 2:05:30 AM Saw them on Diver Down, 1984, and later with Hagar on 5150 tour.
Fond memories, probably because I was a teenager / punk at that time and this was the biggest kickass show to come to town- |
