The real nfl officials average around 150,000 a year..But that is with so many years experience, and the top being around 165,000-170,000...Beginners start out at around 80,000....On average, each Super Bowl official last year made about 12,000 for the game....Those with the highest experience and ratings get that job....For most, it's a second job, and as an example, Ed Hoculi is a Baltimore lawyer....They are required to do around 30-40 hours of prep each week before a game, plus of course the physical conditioning is a must...NOW CHECK THIS----THE NFL IS PROJECTED TO MAKE AROUND 10 BILLION THIS YEAR, AND THAT NUMBER WILL RISE TO 14 BILLION IN THE NEXT 4 YEARS...."IF" THE NFL CAVED IN TO "EVERY DEMAND" OF THE OFFICIALS UNION, IT WOULD COST 16 MILLION....Talk about greed and power!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, they are part time employees - I hate siding with the extremely greedy owners, but the officials are part time employees, why should should the refs get noncontributory pension plans, nowadays they are uncommon even for full-time employees, but totally unheard of for part time employees, but NFL may now cave in to public pressure....
