#6 Posted: 2/29/2012 3:28:02 PM The Luck kid actually ran a faster time than Cam Newton! And, remember, Newton was described as "athletic"..........read into that what you will. |

#8 Posted: 2/29/2012 3:28:38 PM Unlike Leaf and Couch, that "white boy" has actually got a brain.
I like RGIII, but whose to say he won't turn out to be the next Akili Smith? |

#14 Posted: 2/29/2012 4:18:23 PM Don't need huge speed to be a great NFL QB. You need brains, accuracy and a little escapability. Both RG3 and Luck have all of those. Luck still gets the edge in regards to accuracy and brains.
Both Mannings Rodgers Brees Stafford Rivers Romo Cutler
All pretty darn good and don't run much. Vick and Newton are what I consider passing QB's that can run. It's not like they are way better than the ones listed above.
Running is FAR from a prerequisite for being a solid NFL QB.
That said, RG3 can certainly throw it....but not like Luck. |

I could post a list of white QB's who sucked that is 5 times as long. And since when wasn't McNabb a decent QB? Last few years sucked, but he was far from a bust. |

That's a list of EVERY black QB who played in the NFL from 2007 back. If somebody can find the last 4 years of black quarterbacks, post it. |

I'm not sold on RG for the same reason. The Big 12 was terrible this year with most of the secondaries looking like keystone cops out there. Look at most of RG3's highlights. It's a bunch of 50-60 yard plays where there is no defender within 10 yards of the receiver. RG didn't have to be accurate. Gonna be some tight coverages in the NFL.

#21 Posted: 2/29/2012 4:54:39 PM Running QB is just not the best formula. It helps to have foot speed and be able to escape and throw on the run, but you just can't run at that position for a living. You will get killed. Will Vick ever play another full season? Even he's learned to throw first.

Quite true..
I would rather draft a chippy QB from a tough conference who can take a hit than a highlight reel player from a crappy one.

Aaron Rodgers played in that "terrible" conference as well. he turned out alright. Henry Lilly beat me to it, but I was going to point out the same regarding RGIII.
Luck IS tough and smart enough to lead a bad team. Just how that is to transpire on the NFL level is anyone's guess, but just look at Stanford outside of Andrew Luck, where is the talent? Two highly touted offensive linemen and a TE that Luck made look good and that's about it. He turned a mediocre Stanford team into a real contender. |
