Friday's Pitching Report & Weekend Promos

By Freddy Wills on 04/26/2012 8:45 PM

We are just on fire right now on our MLB POD's as we are 15-7 on the year with one game pending Thursday night. Friday night has all the top stars in baseball taking the mound for their respective teams and to celebrate we are offering a:
SPECIAL 3 DAY MLB SALE

  • 3 DAYS ALL SPORTS $49.95 - GET 7 DAYS NBA PLAYOFFS FREE W/PURCHASE
  • 7 DAYS MLB $60 (WAS $99)
  • 3 WEEKS MLB $150 (WAS $299 FOR 30 DAYS)
  • MLB SEASON $499 (WAS $699)
Cardinals -118 (1.5* FREE PLAY)
We lost a tough POD on these boys on Tuesday but I'll back them in this match up with the Brewers on Friday. First of all Jake Westbrook has really impressed me posting a 1.31 ERA and 1.02 WHIP over his first 3 starts. He lost some weight in the off season and it is certainly paying dividends already. Westbrook was not great vs. the Brewers last year, but in 4 starts he carried a 4.12 ERA is much better than the opposing starter and the Brewers just are not a good road team as they are hitting just .208 on the road vs. RHP while the Cardinals are hitting .260 and scoring 5.44 runs per 9 at home vs. RHP.

Cardinals have the 6th best OPS .775 vs. RHP thus far and that's not fluke they are 8-1 following an off day over their last 9 as well as 16-5 in their last 21 as a home favorite. They go up against Yovani Gallardo who they have dominated. Gallardo over his last 5 starts vs. the Cardinals has been bad in each one of them posting a 9.24 ERA. He'll have his hands filled as the Brewers are just 5-21 in his last 26 starts as a dog.

Notable Hot Starters:

Roy Halladay (3-1, 0.90 WHIP, 1.50 ERA)
Justin Verlander (3-1, 0.80 WHIP, 1.72 ERA)
Jerred Weaver (3-1, 0.78 WHIP, 2.43 ERA)
Wandy Rodriguez (1-3, 1.03 WHIP, 1.42 ERA)
Joe Saunders (1-2, 1.00 WHIP, 1.29 ERA)
Carlos Zambrano (0-3, 0.95 WHIP, 2.84 ERA)
James Shields (4-0, 1.09 WHIP, 2.76 ERA)
Matt Harrison (3-0, 0.97 WHIP, 1.66 ERA)
Jake Westbrook (2-1, 1.02 WHIP, 1.31 ERA)
Russ Detwiler (2-1, 0.94 WHIP, 0.56 ERA)
Clayton Kershaw (4-0, 1.03 WHIP, 1.61 ERA)

Cold Starter Of The Day:

Despite Justin Masterson having to go up against one of Friday's hot starters and being one of our cold starters as he posts a 6.65 ERA on the season over 4 starts. I like how he's kept the Angels, who are struggling with the bats, to a .697 OPS over 144 AB. In his 5 career starts he's given up just 5 ER to them over 32.1 IP for an ERA of 1.39 ERA.

Notable Cold Starters:
Paul Maholm (1-2, 1.57 WHIP, 8.36 ERA)
Mike Leake (1-2, 1.50 WHIP, 6.50 ERA) get more mlb sports picks and sports betting advice
