#26 Posted: 2/27/2012 3:10:24 PM Can defense win in today's NFL? I know the Pats are going to concentrate on that this offseason....... |

#27 Posted: 2/27/2012 8:28:04 PM I would say defense can't win alone, at least not currently. Past couple seasons have shown you have to have an offense that can put up points.
Hopefully Pats get a nice piece or two on defense and a decent WR that can stretch the field deep. |

#28 Posted: 3/2/2012 9:12:00 PM As much as I dislike the Pats, the Spygate theory doesn't hold since they have had a great record since Spygate. They made it to two SBs since Spygate and only a couple miraculous drives and catches by my Giants kept them from winning those two without spying.
That's not to say that they didn't benefit from spying in winning their first three. If there was enough evidence, they should have been stripped of those titles.

#29 Posted: 3/4/2012 5:09:01 PM The Patriots had a great defense back in those Superbowl wins too.
So they lost 1 SB because of a play that had to be one of the most miraculous sports plays ever.
And they lost 1 this year with one of the worst defenses ever..did you predict them to make it to the SB midway through the season when teams were moving up and down the field against them? DOUBT IT
But they made it to the SB. 2 plays, 2 cm's is sitting in the way of Patriots beating the Giants twice. That's it.
The fact that they have still had success after should put this theory to bed. Were the Giants not a good team this year? They embarrassed the best team in the NFL, Packers.

#30 Posted: 3/15/2012 4:19:36 PM They didn't have a great defense in 2008
Knowing the other team's plays is a huge advantage, but that advantage is magnified between two evenly matched teams when every advantage can make the difference. For example, the Superbowl when the two best teams in the NFL are playing.
The proof is in the pudding folks.

A decade or so ago, Jim Rome used the phrase, "If you're not cheating, you're not winning." Maybe he knew something back then that others didn't. |
