It would have been better for Showalter to keep his mouth shut and become a surprise like Tampa did a few years back but that's not Showalter's style. With another losing season on the horizon the smart money says Bucky boy wont be in Baltimore for Opening Day in 2013. His act wears thin quick where ever he goes.
be careful with the Yanks tonight. They will lose 60-70 games this year and most of them will be on SFTC. Chen is supposed to be a good pitcher and Garcia isn't fit to be a Yankee.

#7803 Posted: 4/10/2012 1:50:13 PM There are some Owners that need to be run out of town. San Diego are you listening? There is no excuse for the complete shambles that some franchises are in. San Diego is at the top my list because the Owners promised the good people of my hometown a contender if they approved the new stadium. Well the greedy person got their new stadium and every year they have a fire sale of their talent. San Diego has been turned into a Triple A ball club now. Pittsburgh isn't any better, 20 years of losing seasons in that city is a Federal crime. I don't want to hear about small market/big market bullshit. Baseball has always been about the money regardless of the era. Look back on it's history and you will see that this is the case, granted things are much more so nowadays but that doesn't mean you can't build a winner. Let's look at the examples. Tampa Bay has remained a contender despite losing talent every year. Somebody down there has a brain and realized pitching is the key. The Minnesota Twins for years have won on a small budget until recently. Oakland had much success in the turn of the century. They even made a movie about it. Milwaukee and Cincinnati have now stepped up to the plate and have become tough outs. Detroit is a town that has been economically nuked for more than 40 years but their Owners realized what they had to do. So there is NO EXCUSE for these sorry behind Owners of these small market teams not to build competitive teams. If you're in it only for the money you should get out immediately. Owning a team should be about civic pride and not your pocket book. We witnessed the destruction of the Dodgers with an Assclown Owner with a person for a wife take that team down to the gutter so far attendance dropped to amazing levels. When I lived in LA Tuesday night games were 40,000 people plus. Now that a class group with Magic Johnson is calling the shots watch what happens to the Dodgers in a couple of years. I for one will look forward to hating them again. Recently I can only muster sympathy as I witnessed the carnage in LA. As I look over the baseball landscape I see opportunity everywhere and if these penny pinching Owners don't see it they need to sell the teams and get the hell out of the sport and stop bitching, whining and making false promises to a gullible public. It's time for baseball to clean house on the Owners just like they did with the Dodgers. San Diego and Pittsburgh can you hear me? |

Good point about Freddy Garcia but with Petitte and Pineda in the wings trying to get healthy he is pitching for his New York life. The way I see it he will be the first one out the door unless he dazzles. So with that said I'm looking for early season success from Mr. Garcia and nothing less. |

#7806 Posted: 4/10/2012 2:49:48 PM chen has a career 2.48 era in the J-League, he is no slouch. under the radar with Yu coming over, but he could be a very solid pitcher.
i like boston against drabek today. drabek was, and still could be, considered a potential future ace. his main thing since he was in the philly farm system has been control issues. he gets behind in counts, walks hitters, and is forced to throw strikes that aren't quality strikes.

#7811 Posted: 4/11/2012 12:28:05 PM I would avoid taking the Phillies on SFTC. The pitching is still in Spring Training form and the hitting isnt happening |

#7812 Posted: 4/11/2012 12:32:01 PM I like the Nats over the Mets today. majority % on the Mets and the Nats became a bigger favorite. This is why patience is important in baseball picking. I pulled the trigger too soon on my 2 favorite angle only for the line and the pick to change.

Dodgers are an interesting pick. Majority % on the Dodgers and the line went down enough for this contest. This is a strategy I am starting to follow. with this angle the Pirates would be the play.

#7821 Posted: 4/13/2012 5:16:47 AM Booyahz, sometimes the majority is right!
I was gonna do D-backs,but they weren't on list.
My line never dropped for dodgers,D-backs did fluctuate from -135 to -140,then back to -135. I liked em both but missed putting them in by 5 minutes.

#7822 Posted: 4/13/2012 10:14:54 AM When the line moves opposite of majority is what I am trying to track. It seems when a dog gets hammered and favorites line increases the favorite wins. Trying to see what else I can find. The dodgers line for me was back up when I looked surprised you got to pick that one.

Red Sox fall under this play today.
I took Brewers with Greinke over the Cubs with Garza when the line was at -124. The line went up over -130 as Brewers were getting the majority play. At game time despite the % increase on Brewers the line dropped to -119. Cubs won 8-0. This is the kind of lines I am trying to monitor right now. If anyone has any insight on this please post it.
