#1 Posted: 2/13/2012 2:15:43 PM Does your gym require you to pay for an annual membership with a debit/credit card? They obviously do this so that they have access to your bank account and proceed to bill it without authorization. They call it "policy," and only suckers give banking info to any business for auto pay/billing.
A week ago I handed them my annual dues in cash. 3 days later they (the highschool graduates), begin sweating me for a card number or checking account routing #.
darn that, it's a scam and they don't have the right.

At Anytime Fitness they have a policy where you must inform them at least a month in advance if you want to cancel your membership. What a money grubbing joke. Way too easy for them to run a couple extra ACH payments when you're not looking.
That is why I sabotaged the garbage outta the place. Oh boy it cost them |

#3 Posted: 2/13/2012 9:25:03 PM No garbage............ I wrote a check for prepaid dues but they wanted a credit card for a key deposit.... in case I didn't return a $2 key.
Of course they ran the credit card for $40 two days after joining |

#5 Posted: 2/14/2012 6:59:44 PM So I'm not alone here with this crap.
Well, the gym chic called again last night asking me for my card # and I said wait a second, are you at my local gym now? She said no, I'm in Wash DC. I fuckin laughed and said you will not get one digit off of my debit card and do not call me again.
Give ém cash or no deal gentlemen. They'll take it. |

All of my friends were at Golds years and years ago. Then they jacked up the price without notice and began making unauthorized charges to every single person. It was unreal.

I canceled my gym membership, then 2 months later I got a letter from a collection agency in the mail. Needless to say I raised hell at the gym and got it straightened out.

#16 Posted: 2/24/2012 7:56:32 PM Just easier to let them duduct it monthly for me. Living in paranoid fear is pointless. Like people that dont use debit cards or bank online becuase they dont want anyone to have their info. Well, your info is already online wether you like it or not. Nowadays, banks and cc companies fraud departments usually take care of anything you call them about, or even notufy you if something doesnt look right or is over a certain amount.

I AGREE TRAIN. AND ITS TRUE BECAUSE THEY DO CALL AT TIMES JUST TO MAKE SURE, EXAMPLE I WAS OUT OF STATE AND DIDNT TELL MY BANK AND THEY CALLED JUST TO MAKE SURE I USED THE CARD. |

#18 Posted: 3/13/2012 9:40:09 PM Paranoid fear has nothing to do with the discussion.
It's about charging your card if you decide to move to another gym. This is why they want the digits on file in order to keep money flowing.
Then you hassle with management and contracts and banks. I don't have time for that garbage personally. |

That is true for sure. I was just chiming in and agreeing on the fraud factor. My ex wife paid for almost a year before she realized they were taking the loot! She is cluless anyways but just showing an example! |
