I'm trying to teach myself, and I'm reading 2 books at the moment but I get lost sometimes and can't keep track of what I'm reading. Is there any DVDs or anything online that anyone can recommend ? Thanks in advance

learn how to read charts .. If you are trying to learn to trade fundamentals you are DEAD!!!   To many day traders out there now .. Trade technicals. You tube has a lot of great videos . Look at how to trade Bollinger Bands , use the 10 day hourly charts , the 5 day 30 min charts and the 1 month daily charts . once you watch the youtube videos you will know what I mean .. Ask any questions you like .. CBLI  has the classic example of a stock that should break out some time this week.

Honest to God, you are wasting your time. 

I could talk to you for days about how markets work. 

And it would all be a giant waste of time.

There is no room for the little guy in today's market. 

Take the time you are willing to spend learning about the market and teach yourself a new skill or hobby. Learn how to build cabinets, fix cars, body work on cars, etc. Then sell that skill or hobby. Your ROI will be 10 ten times what it would be in the market over the same time span.

is there any specific person i should look up? i searched "stock chart reading" and a ton of different ones popped up. im sure some are better then others ,and im sure some are flat out wrong.

Steerlers 07

Reminiscences of a Stock Operator .... book about Jesse Livermore.  This is my favorite book.  Jesse was one of the first momentum traders back in the late 1800's to early 1900's.  He made a $100 mil and lost it all ... TWICE.  This was over a hundred years ago. 

I don't care what system you use, drawing from my experience, as long as your investment strategy has a stout risk management factor built into it, you should be fine.  Risk management meaning keeping your losses in check.  Finding good stocks and purchasing at the right time is one of the easiest things to do in trading, the hardest part is knowing when to sell them.  Good luck.

HAHA Thats funny  I just bought more. . You must not do much trading . Its morons like you that here news and create a sell off. When you learn how to read , they were only denied funding . The drug works and once the FDA puts there 2 cents in , it will go up so people like me who bought more ,not sold make 5 figures .

Heres one    ACI   good luck .. By APRIL 30th you will be up 2.50 a share .. trading at 10.15 at close ... oh by the way the way you repsond shows how you are a friggin loser. Good luck in life ... you have a bright future ..

Your the one that needs how to learn to trade using charts.  You lied and said a big break out was coming last week.  You gave bad advice to other people that lost them money.  You shouldnt give advice about something you dont know about you should feel ashamed of yourself.  Im in ibm anyway, i dont mess with stocks that trade for $1.

Thanks to everyone that responded! I must admit that was the most advice I ever received in a single thread that I started on covers. Not all of it was promising but none the less thanks. Was wondering if anyone could shed light on Forex? I created a practice account like you buck said but I did it for Forex instead. And I managed to read 2 whole books in the amount of time I could barely read half of the first stock market book. I read a book called Forex made easy and trading tips for Forex by a James person. I found this type of trading to be suited to my interests I believe by was wondering if anyone could tell me is it pointless to try to teach myself to trade on here? Does one need to learn the stock market before attempting to trade on Forex? I didn't do so bad on the practice accounts but must admit that it was a great deal of luck rather than it was accurate predictions. It seems to me that news on a certain stock or reports on individual companies is easier to track than it would be for Forex. Foreign exchange seems to take in numerous factors and a BROAD range of information in order to utilize a successful trade? But maybe that's just me not understanding the whole concept of it. THANX in advance

I am desperately seeking a new direction for myself in life. I'm going to Federal prison soon for a significant amount of time and would love to be able to put myself on a positive path in life to keep from resorting to old ways. I am good with numbers, I am not a fool when it comes to making money (well maybe legally I am) I have managed to start 2 successful businesses on my own and then sell them for a profit. So with the free time I have remaining before sentencing which is in upwards of 5-6 months I would like to figure out if this is for me or not so I can have something positive to show my kids and my girl I learned on my own.

If you're going to the joint you'll have plenty of time to read everything you can get your hands on. Start with stock market for dummies or whatever and work your way up. It's what I did for traading and real estate investing. I read every book in the library.

I just got call this morning that I'm leaving June 28th. And it's either 4 or 8 years it's up to the judge. But no less than 4. Federal charges dont have prohibition or parole, it's all flat time. But a Fed year is 10 months. So if I'm sentenced to 10 I do 8 if I'm sentenced to 5 I do 4.

I've been studying Forex for the last month and a half. I have had pretty good success with my practice demo accounts. And I was actually gonna fund my account on Monday and short EUR/USD after it rallies from this 22 month low of $1.25, but after hearing from my lawyer I'm consiberably depressed. I planed on having this summer to spend with my family and now I know I just have 30 days left.

Steelers, I got family at Lewisburg Federal (2 brothers and a nephew) which is now a maximum security prison so only the worst of the worst are there anymore!  All 3 are correctional officers on the extraction/goon squad and would probably love to meet you???

Yeah, they are BIG bad behind boys!

You have a nice Memorial Day weekend now and don't drop the soap. It'll all be over b4 they get there. But hey if it isn't Lewisburg, I'm sure they're all the same?
