#1 Posted: 7/25/2012 1:22:03 PM Who deserves a shot?
It kind of looks like Weidman might be next, but I don't necessarily agree. He is probably the #1 contender. Hard to argue. I draw some comparisons to how Jones rose up the rankings quickly with dramatic finishes, and shoe horned his way into a title fight at an early age.The difference with this weight class is the champ is a long time holder and i think he deserves the respect of have to have a title shot earned through beating several top contenders. The Light Heavy division hasn't had a true champion defending the belt since Liddell. So for Jones to walk right in isn't as big a deal.
However, of the top contenders at MW, they all have fights lined up. The only one who doesn't his Weidman. Belcher deserves one if he beats Belfort. If Belfort wins, does he deserve another shot so close to the other. I think Bisping has already done enough and should be fighting Silva instead of Stann. But if he beats Stann for sure he gets one. But I don't think Stann does if he beats Bisping (that is not likely to happen anyways)
Am I missing anyone? |

#2 Posted: 7/25/2012 1:46:05 PM Bisping can't fight for the title coming off a loss. And certainly shouldn't be ahead of Weidman, Belfort, Boetsch, or Belcher even if he beats Stann.
As it stands, Weidman has the best resume right now. Then either Belfort/Belcher will be eliminated with their fight in October. A Boetsch/Sonnen fight makes sense to see where he's at. Or maybe a Boetsch/Munoz fight/
I think the winner of the Belfort/Belcher fight should be ahead of Weidman. But my guess is by the time that fight is decided, either Weidman will be granted his shot, or Bisping will be granted a very undeserving shot with a win over Stann.

#3 Posted: 7/25/2012 3:36:33 PM The only reason I figured bisping should get a shot after a loss was due to who beat him. Even bispings losses could have gone his way: wand, sonnen.
I forgot boetch but definitely needs at least one more win |

#6 Posted: 7/26/2012 8:45:47 AM I read Dana make a statement that the rua Vera winner may get the winner if jones hendo. Vera shouldn't be even close to a title shot |

#7 Posted: 7/26/2012 5:16:11 PM I am sick of Bisping. Who has he beaten to get a title shot? Dan Miller, Akiyama, Rivera and Jason Miller aren't even in the top 15. Then he gets his chance against Sonnen and loses. Stann is good but not in the top 5. I think you should have to beat someone in the top 5 and win at least three in a row to get a shot. He hasn't done either. Weidman should fight the winner of Stann/Bisping. Then Bisping can fight someone elite. Belcher/Belfort winner is right there too.

#8 Posted: 7/26/2012 6:11:08 PM I am not a bisping fan at all. But he's paid his dues. He's beat everyone they've put in front if him, except sonnen and wand and those decisions could have gone his way easily.
I read a quote from Silvas manager today. Not soares but another guy. He said Anderson has no interest in fighting "amateurs" like weidman, boetch, belcher". Only wants gsp right now. That's odd
Bisping hasn't beat many good guys cuz there aren't many at 185 |

#9 Posted: 7/26/2012 6:57:24 PM He can talk after he beats either Belcher, Belfort or Weidman. Until then I can't give him any credit. He hasn't fought either of those guys or Munoz, Boetsch and Okami. Does anyone find that odd?

#13 Posted: 7/28/2012 3:01:56 AM I think the UFC wants to see a Bisping/Silva fight at some point. Bisping isn't a big threat to stop Silva's streak, and the fight would definitely sell.
I also wouldn't be surprised if they set up Boetsch/Weidman, to give Weidman another 'top' win and to remove Boetsch from the picture. Tim Boetsch is a good guy but he's just not very marketable and this MW run he's got going.. meh, he's picking up the wins but it hasn't been pretty.
Also anyone else pumped for Belcher/Vitor? Sweet matchup, I'm thinking about a big play on Belcher if he's at a good number.

#14 Posted: 7/28/2012 9:59:27 AM That all sounds right to me. If silva waits for belcher, bisping, belfort, I could b a yr between title fights. If he fights weidman, it can happen within 6 months.
I think belfort will b favored vs belcher but I like belcher too |

#16 Posted: 7/28/2012 8:23:04 PM styles make fight, and diaz style would make this fight a bloodbath. His stalking-striking style would play right into silvas counter attack. Diaz is tough has they come and can take a punch but Silvia would just pick him apart till his lights go out. |

#17 Posted: 7/30/2012 6:54:57 PM going to lay a nice size bet on belcher if he comes at a good number, belcher is a solid dog and will take this fight...vitor either wins in the first or belcher breaks his spirit in the first on route to a unanimous decision

#19 Posted: 9/7/2012 4:19:31 PM If silva gsp does happen, that would put any MW title shots on hold. But pretty much guaranteed the boetch weidman winner gets the next shot. And maybe belcher fights the bisping stann winner For the next one |

phillippou vs boetch is a very interesting match up - should be an entertaining slugfest
I'm a little surprised that Belcher is a dog vs Okami |
