I'm still in shock about this road comeback. Did I dream this?

I just read this silly....

I gotta say, I agree with what your saying.  The value definitely was on the clippers, it's actually surprising how high they opened that line.  That being said, I think with that game one loss, that value has moved to the other side.  We had an opportunity to see how these teams will matchup and to a lesser extent, how the coaches will defend certain players.  Memphis literally dominated the clips for over 3 quarters.  They got the shots they wanted, they showed great defensive schemes, and most importantly, frustrated blake griffin.  What happened in the fourth was amazing, but not exactly repeatable on a nightly basis.

Also, caron broke his hand.  He didn't look good for the first game anyway, but he is one of their most veteran players with the most playoff experience.  If this series goes 6 or 7 as we all assume, that loss will be a difference maker.

I had given up this bet as a lost.  I paid my local with loss included last night not knowing the true outcome of the game and should have been lesser amount.  Oh well.  The true winner was the Atl/Boston under that si1ly had put out on his prediction first round wagers.  But of course that was on parlay loser with Azarenka losing to Sharapova earlier.  She really started my day wrong and snowballing in the wrong direction.  I had MLB winners from Jfen and Papa all tied to parlays with her.

reading this thread makes me happy.  even though i had memphis huge last night and disagree with you on this series, i hate that people attack you in the middle of a game on your well reasoned pick.  keep posting your thoughts.  thank you again for pointing me in the right direction on that boston/atlanta under!

@kap

Merry Christmas indeed. Whether you were on the lucky side of that result or the moosed side... You have to appreciate the history you witnessed. Simply an incredible 30 minutes of television.

si1ly -- I would have loved to appreciate the history I was watching, except I went to bed after feeding my 2 month old and saying to my wife "this game is over, let's go to bed, there's no chance LAC is coming back, they're down 24 to start the 4th (or whatever it was)".

Needless to say I was quite surprised when I woke up this AM

@CT I may have been lucky to get the win last night but I trust my research overall. I still think they're the righy side in this series. The first half was a perfect storm of hot hands, momentum and a lazy effort by the Clippers. Clippers win in 6-7 games.

1.) How do you know he didn't hedge a little on Griz series when they were over +300?

Factoring the 4 Memphis home games and the 3 Clipper home games my model predicted that Memphis would outscore the Clippers by 0.45 points total if they played all 7 games. Well Memphis outscored LAC by 5 points total in the 7 games. My model was off by 4.5 points or 0.64 points per game.

Comparing this data with some line value analysis made LAC an automatic play to win the series despite mathematicaly predicting them to be slightly outscored. They had the best player, better bench and right style of offense to win games even if they were outscored in the aggregate.

I can't say this series could have gone anywhere closer to plan. Reread my write-up on this future ticket and on my breakdown sheet.. might as well be a series summary.
