Say what you will about this guy in past two years, but to me it appears like he's really turned his mental state around and is playing really well right now. He grinds out a very tough match today, where the old verdasco would have typically lost that third set
I think verdasco could be a dark horse to make some noise in the French and depending on his draw, I'd be inclined to take him to win his quarter, or even his half if he's on the opposite side of rafa

He has the tools for sure, thing that worries me is his serve which is brutal at times.

Very true, but historically the French is a grinders paradise, not typically a big server type event. For the most part rafa spins his serve in on clay too. Maybe nando has worked his serving demons out,,,look at sharapova too, she consistently overcomes her double fault issues to win her matches in a grind too when the serve is off

It'll be interesting for sure, but I will gladly take verdasco early on if he has a tough draw and is a small dog early on depending on the matchup. He made the finals of the Aussie open once when he was on the juice,,,maybe he's on the HGH now as he's playing well again?

he barely beat Falla!!!!

not nuch has changed with Nando against the big boys. Maybe he's mentally stronger now against the garbage players, but he still no where near the big boys.

remember Cincy last year? where he lost to Nadal-- Nando was in "good form" for him at the time and Nadal had just burnt his hand at the oriental restaurant. Nadal played like garbage and could barley swing a raquet and Nando still couldn't beat him  LMAO

Falla is a lot better than most people give credit for, especially on clay.
This was exactly my point here, the mentally weak nando would've likely not pulled this match up. How many times did nando just lay an egg in this exact spot?

That match in Cindy was approx a 4 hrs three set marathon,,,, at that point they both needed medics in that third set tb. Plus that was on hards,,,I'm really just making this point with regards to nando on clay. I know ppl will claim he's a better hard courter, but I don't believe it. Spaniards are naturally born on clay and feel like they can beat anyone on this stuff, at least the top guys do
