#29 Posted: 6/17/2012 11:45:48 AM Group B, the group of death
still all to play for here
and no team will go quietly here
Germany are too short to beat Denmark who have shown themselves not to be whipping boys, I wouldnt back denmark to get a result but they if they do lose, it'll probably be by the odd goal.
Love the over here, more goals in 2nd half than 1st half, there'll be some game chasing going on here. Gomez to score should be odds on, he is in sublime form, i'll also be betting on over 4.5 cards here, although i might just bet on cards for the danes.
In Portugal Holland game - Love the over as well, a lot of people think the world cup finalists are a good bet here, if van persie and huntelaar take their chances maybe, but their defense is poor, i can see portugal taking them on the counter but I'd rather be on the Over than a side.
And I'll be buying cards here as well.
Looking forward to watching one game on the roger (tv) and the other on the widescreen 'puter |

and the OVER on both games, I really thought the danes would put in some iffy tackles against the germans and be carded but they were happy to limp out of the tournie

#33 Posted: 6/19/2012 12:11:40 AM just relied on my pre tournament bets and didnt play in monday's matches, i had spain croatia as my 1-2 and was a little unlucky not to collect.
Last group is D and its difficult to see beyond the two faves winning,
I was at wembley when england beat belgium, rooney came on as a sub and the buzz among the other players was clearly noticeable, of he is crucial to england as shevchenko is to the ukranians.
Sheva aside, its a very poor side, virtually no player plays outside their domestic league which in todays global game shows what an average lot they are, they are at home which will count for something but its hard to see England not keeping a clean sheet against a beat up sheva, may take england to win to nil here.
France will want to win the group and they oozed class at times in their last match, sweden are a one man show with ibramovich, france can with with a bit to spare.

France lay an egg
lost my group winners bet on france but delighted that england have exceeded expectations, yes a bit lucky but all good teams need that, would rather play Italy than spain,

#36 Posted: 6/21/2012 12:40:31 AM ah the business end of the tournament
Ive got a ticket on portugal to win the big daddy at 14-1 (they wont but its a great hedging tool) and theyr now half those odds and those odds will halve again when they beat the Czechs.
I also have a smaller bet on Ronaldo to be top scorer at the same price and I can see both events happening tomorrow, the czechs scraped out of the weakest group whereas Portugal beat the world cup finalists with a bit to spare and were unlucky to go down 1-0 to germany.
On form portugal should be a shorter price, Ronaldo to score anytime and Portugal to win pays 7/4, a lot better than 3/4 on the bare win, Portugal -1.5 @ 11/5 is also a fair price

#40 Posted: 6/22/2012 12:18:37 AM Germany are the shortest QF price I can remember for a long time, and rightly so, Greece did well to negotiate a tricky but weak group, they have attempted only 17 shots in 3 games, and we all know their strategy in this one.
In my mind this goes 2 ways, they frustrate portugal like the czechs do and the germans win 1-0 or the germans breakthrough, force the greeks to counter and then pick them off resulting in a thrashing.
There's no value in backing germany on the handicaps, i'm going to have a couple of speculative correct score bets with germany winning 4-0 big value at 14-1 for me.
going to save my powder for the big 2 weekend QF's

#44 Posted: 6/23/2012 1:27:19 PM Spain France - interesting matchup
Both teams had "indifferent" results in their last group games, both have been on impressive unbeaten runs.
Apart from the cakewalk against Ireland, spain dont look all the conquering team we know and we know that stats that no team has won 3 major tournies back to back.
Spain have also NEVER been france in a competitive match and at the prices, you have to take spain on.
Providing the french put the low key game against sweden behind them, they can get at least take this game to extra time.
I'm not sure whether I'll be backing the draw or just France +.5 but either way, it time to take on Spain.

#45 Posted: 6/24/2012 2:39:17 PM just a word on the french surrender yesterday, what a terrible game and they made no effort to get back in it, sums up the french for you.
England will fight every minute against the Italians, this will be tight but there's value in backing for either team to win because the draw is now too short,
England have had a history of bad luck in tournaments, endless penalty shootout losses etc, there's a honeymoon over uncle woy at the moment, a level of confidence I havent see for a while, this may just be the edge england needs to nick a victory here.

#46 Posted: 6/26/2012 10:07:49 PM another loss on penalties, when you half expect it to happen, it doesnt hurt so much!! Italy were the better side anyway so cant realy complain too much.
I wont be "playing" in wednesday's game as I have tickets for 12-1 portugal and 14-1 Ronaldo top scorer so a 3-2 win for portugal and a Ronaldo hat trick would tick the boxes for me.
Yes, spain are faves but they dont look like the team from 2 and 4 years ago, france didnt turn up in the QF's and Ronaldo is in his peak, Nani and Luiz are a good supporting cast, I'm "Optimistic" of an upset.
