Anyone know how to do this?? if it matters i have the generic dvr supplied to me by direct tv...id like to watch my shows from a remote location (if you're one of the most ppl that MUST know why: I might be stuck in commute or at your girlfriend's house, you know, chillaxin).

im willing to buy my own dvr if necessary for ease of use...

thx bros...

Slingbox, Orb or Plex are a few options.

I know Slingbox is super easy to setup and use, but costs some money.  So if you're looking for the surefire, easy way, buy a Slingbox.

Checking out sling box...$$$ nice option down the road. Right now I'm looking to upgrade my cell phone , then get an mac air, as far as toys go first ...also direct tv does have a cpl options in place, neither 2 that great tho. One allows u to down load content to your laptop (iPad I think also), which is kinda stupid. The other let's you watch your shows on ur home CPU. AS LONG as it's attached to the same router as the Hd Dvr receiver...which is cool in the sense you don't need to pay for extra receivers but not mobile at all...

Thx for the feed back so far
