G Tech -3.5...with their triple option they'll run the ball down the Utes throat here

Tech has been pretty awful in bowl games under Paul Johnson, going 0-3 straight up and 0-3 ATS I believe.

Even with time to prepare I don't think Utah has the front 7 to deal with the triple option.  Unless GT gets 2 TDs behind with turnovers, I think they roll Utah.  GT can't lose every bowl game can they?  Time for them to step and beat an average Utah team.

GT by 7+   4 unit play for me

i think Ga Tech's history in bowl games will motivate them to win...yes, Utah has had a month to prepare, but Utah also lost to a bad Colorado team...I think this is a rebuilding year for Utah.

the perception that Utah's run D is stout seems to be a bit of a misnomber considering they play in the Pac XII.  With the exception of Oregon, who really focusses on the run in the Pac XII.

I think P Johnson will motivate his troops to throw everything they have into this game and take the next step.

Yes, Ga Tech f'd me in the NC State game, but I forgive them.  I hope they will pay me back with a win and a cover...

Ga Tech -2

Longhorn... your right, tough to look past that Colorado loss... I don't know, both had some good wins, and some bad losses.... erratic.  Another tough capping matchup for me.  Undecided

i'm always confused as to what historic bowl record has to do with this year's matchup and team.  Wtf does Paul Johnson's 2009 bowl loss have to do with 2011 GT vs 2011 Utah?

Public loves Ga. Tech in this game but the line opened at -4 and is now down to -2, something isn't right. Doubt I'll touch this game, but if I did I'd play Utah cause Ga. Tech seems to find ways to lose games they should win.

It could  point to his coaching, some coaches are just flat out better at preparing their squads during the month layoff than others. Having said that though i like ga tech here. Utah hasn't beaten one good team all year, ga tech has beaten a few. Ill go with the more battle tested squad and the team with better speed.

Utahs' coaching staff has stayed pretty much in tact over the yrs compared to a lot of other schools.  Whittingham is in his 7th yr and prior to that he logged 10yrs as the Utes DC. The current DC has 5yrs in the program and 3yrs as DC, and there is no doubt Whittingham plays a big part in the defensive gameplanning. This program has always hung it's hat on the defensive side of the ball.  Don't forget that this team, and more importantly its defensive staff, has had to prepare for a similar offense having played Air Force every yr before leaving the MTW. I know that this staff will have the D prepared, they have been to bigger dances before and done well. (4-1 in bowls last 5) As for Gtech, they have some distractions with disciplinary suspensions...and more importantly, when I watch GT DB's try to tackle it makes me want to puke, they are horrible tacklers when the play makes it to the 2nd level.  Athletically I rate these squads equal, but Utah has the better staff and the better Defense. By the way, todays' slate of games is friggin dispicable for a Sat. New yrs Eve.

First poster here. And as my user name suggests, I follow line movement at many books, and with the use of many filters I read when the books are leading the public towards the wrong favorite. I dont care about stats or trends. I have a small play today.

UTAH +2
