I don't know where to post it. I try to help my son on his homework, but his teacher said the answers are wrong. I am confuse...help

Here are the patterns # 1:
1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, ?, ?, ?

The next 3 numbers are 34, 55, and 89. 

And here are the pattern #2 :
2, 4, 9, 16, 25, ?, ?, ?

The next 3 numbers are 36, 49, and 64.

My son told me that the answers are all wrong. What did I miss ? Why is it wrong ?

Please help. Thanks

#1 clearly you're right. Looks like you're just adding the prior 2 numbers.

#2 I'm stumped.  Looks like you're adding 2 more each time.  I don't see that pattern given that it starts with 2,4,9.

1.  1+2 = 3   3+5 = 8   8+13 = 21  and so on

2. The first number in the sequence should be 1. In other words, 1,4,9,16,25,36 etc

Square each number. 1squared = 1, 2 squared = 4, 3 3quared = 9, 4 squared = 16 and so on.
