#9 Posted: 9/23/2011 4:41:03 PM Natural gas futures are totally in the dump, not sure I would want to own one of them until NG firms up. |

#11 Posted: 9/25/2011 6:49:29 PM All Commodities really getting creamed, with the threat of a double-dip recession being talked about.
NG should have some better support as we go into Winter. I'm still a big proponent of NG as an alternative fuel source long-term, supplanting some of the gasoline use in this country. So it's a Long term holding for me, but I can see how it works as a trade for you Buck.

Chesapeake scares the garbage out of me......they smell like another Enron with all the promises they're making.

I would wager that has to do with EP being bought out and speculation around others that also might be targets.
I dont see the actual commodity improving at all..which means how can producers and explorers make money with ultra cheap NG prices? |

Sorry, the parallel makes no sense. Enron was the epitome of financial engineering. CHK's McClendon is seen as a free-wheeling CEO, but is smart in shedding assets and developing partnerships with big oil, to help avoid spreading the company too thin, while NG prices are low. BP & Shell are just a few of their partnerships. The company has plenty of free cash flow, and is well-positioned for the day NG gains further momentum in this country.
This week's announcement of Kinder Morgan buying EP only furthers the argument that NG's day will come.. It's a no brainer.
* it burns cleaner than gasoline * it's abundant (it's said there is over 100 Years worth in this Country alone). * the infrastructure is there with the maze of pipelines owned by Kinder Morgan & EP throughout most of the country.
